Not always...

Louisiana man unearths 2.89 carat white diamond at Arkansas state park

A Louisiana man has found a 2.89 carat white diamond at Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro.

Park officials said Tuesday that Brandon Kalenda of Maurepas, Louisiana, found the diamond on March 6 and said he plans to keep it. Kalenda named the diamond "Jax Diamond" after his infant son Jackson.

Park Interpreter Margi Jenks said the diamond is the 47th to be registered by park visitors this year and is the fourth weighing more than a carat to be found since mid-February.

“Sure enough, Brandon found his diamond after searching for about 20 minutes in the Fugitt’s Bank area of the park’s search area,” Jenks said. “We encourage park visitors to look for pockets or layers on the surface of gravel, and search there."

tPOS is like the word "deer", could be one could be 100 but same word for the amount.

Whatever you call words like that, I wasn't an English major.

Damn. What did they uncover then? That seems unusual because it is mostly yellow or brown diamonds.

Last time I went was well over 10 years ago and the list was nowhere near that long.

All I found was a lot of quartz and fools gold.

I bet most people don't know this:

quote:

Another park find, the "Strawn-Wagner diamond", has been certified as the world's only perfect diamond by the American Gem Society. It was unearthed in 1990.

quote:

The Strawn-Wagner Diamond is the world's only perfect diamond so far found, weighing 3.09 carat (620 mg). It was found in 1990 by Shirley Strawn of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, in the Crater of Diamonds State Park public search field.

It was cut to 1.09 carats (220 mg) in 1997, and graded a "perfect" 0/0/0 by the American Gem Society in 1998 and graded perfect by the Gemological Institute of America, making it the first diamond ever to receive such an AGS grading. The diamond is considered one-in-a-billion, according to Peter Yantzer, the AGS Laboratory Director.

The diamond is currently on exhibit at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas.

Those plates are horrible.

Bring back the "Wonder State" plates.
