Sumlin's been a national coach of the year finalist more than once.
Our entire OL would start at Arky.

Do you know Arkansas has dominated its series with ATM? Maybe you should check your facts before spewing stupidity.

I will phone in to Jeff Long asking to cancel our games with you from now on. This is just plain scary, I mean to go up against a coach with that sort of prestige is something that never happens in the SEC.

And don't even tell me Sherman wasn't considered the greatest thing since sliced bread. I love amongst this delusion. Before the 2010 season I was at a party for work. Two delusional colleagues (great guys btw, no kidding) were telling me how first of all, Sherman was infinitely better than Petrino, I mean just compare their NFL records. Then, they were telling me Jerrod Johnson would win the Hesiman and how nobody had even heard of Mallett who they themselves were not impressed with. This is all despite the fact that Arkansas had won 47-19 the previous year with Petrino and Mallett against Hesiman JJ and sleepy Sherm. You tell me who is delusional.
Sherman was not a good college coach. That many Aggies believed otherwise when we hired him is of no moment.
Year two you won by seven--in a game that could have gone either way.
You should not have won last year; you did, but that says far more about our previous staff than any superiority Arky may have.

Do you understand why I posted that?

Yeah, now you say that. He was Moses leading you out of the Fran desert until about 8 months ago. See, here we go again, should, would, could mentality will have you in Atlanta in no time.

Yes, despite an 18 point lead and a more talented roster, Sherman managed to give the game to you.
Actually, he gave four similar games away.
It's despicable, believe me.

He was not a good coach. Is that really debatable?
Fran sucked, too.
Programs often miss on back to back guys.
Is that a really difficult concept?
Fortunately, we hit on the two guys before Fran.
Maybe the law of averages will tilt Sumlin's tenure towards something resembling Sherill and Slocum's, maybe not.
Maybe Arky will hire a coach after JLS who is not bankrupt, in one form or another. But maybe not.

It hasn't even been 1 year, and you're already claiming that you've out-recruited OU. In July.
I know its been a while since Arky recruited Texas worth a damn, so you are obviously out of the loop. Here in Texas (thanks to Mack Brown) we have this thing called early recruiting- MOST top talent commits before their senior year.
Therefore in the Texas recruiting scene who you have committed in July shows 80% of the time who will sign in February. In our case a large number of those commits have OU offers.
So yes in July I can say we are out-recruiting OU. You might want to read up a little on modern Texas recruiting if you every hope to use us as a conduit to that talent.
Heck maybe that is the reason why Arky has sucked at recruiting Texas in the last ten years- yall started too late.
quote:
but do you really think the best recruits in Texas will be that interested in A&M after this season?
Yes. Playing time in the SEC is a sure-fire way to get noticed by NFL scouts. Sumlin knows his defense sucks- he is not selling players on his immediate success. He is selling playing close to momma in a league where NFL scouts will notice them. That doesn't change next year, even if we suck.

Hence why I said two years. We have two of the best QBs in the state committed to us right now.
quote:
but it takes more than a couple top 15 classes to be competitive.
Um, actually that is usually exactly what it takes to be competitive. The Arky route of recruiting for shite and win with a genius coach is a much rarer path (that yall don't get to walk anymore).
quote:
You guys are acting like this single top 10 class will put you in the conversation with LSU and Bama.
No I think a couple top 15 classes will have us beating Arky more often than not. I never talked any smack to a LSU or Bama fan. Maybe if we can sustain this level of recruiting for four years...
quote:
You assume A&M's recruiting will be light years better than it was in the Big XII just because you're in the SEC now.
It is. Deal with it.

It shouldn't be, but it apparently was. The only point here is that the delusion runs strong in your family.
I hope it does, good luck, we will see how it turns out. Until then you may want to throttle back the delusions of grandeur lest we be having this conversation again in a few years.

Fwiw we also had games like that against ole miss and vandy it's hard to put all of your eggs in one basket in this league. Any Saturday especially on the road you will find the aggies fighting for their life against Kentucky or tenn or whoever you play from the east...then there is the west so good luck!

That's what it will take to even out this record, which was mostly forged with A&M having better recruits...

Not really.
We didn't start recruiting at a perennial high level until early 80sish.
