I've always considered them tied with UGA and Auburn with maybe UGA being a little better. But that's my perspective.

In terms of conference championships, LSU had 8 prior to 2001 and Georgia had 10. LSU has had 3 since 2001, along with 2 national championships, and Georgia has had 2 conference championships since then.

Its not unreasonable to argue that Georgia was ahead before 2001.

Unrealistic in the SEC. Sorry.

If you can win the SEC, than you are close to getting in the NC game. We were close in 06.

But yeah I guess that's just so unrealistic?[

Not always. LSU won the SEC in 2001 with 3 losses, which is what I see Arkansas doing one year when the SEC is down or something if they win the SEC. Arkansas has never been within single digits of winning the SECCG despite going 3 times.

Arkansas has 28 commits right now and there's 6 4-stars and 1 5-star (rivals). 1 of the 4-stars and the 5-star are from Arkansas, another 4-star is from prep school and 2 more 4-stars are JUCOs. That means you have 2 total 4-stars that are true out of state high school commits. Which isn't much at all, especially when I'm looking over 1 of their offer sheets which is Austin Moss from Texas and he didn't even have offers from LSU, Texas or Oklahoma.

Likely our best recruiting class ever, and after a 5-7 season. No reason to be optimistic about the future?

Not until you start to recruit with the big boys, no, it really won't.

I don't know what this whole complex is from some Arkansas fans but NO ONE is saying you're not allowed to be proud of your team and hope for the best. I'm simply stating some obvious points and facts here. And yes, it's a little much to expect for Arkansas to compete for NCs in the SEC considering

A. You haven't even won the SEC yet and
B. You haven't been able to recruit very well (counting this year, in comparison to the rest of the SEC)

well since I grew up attending LSU games through the late 70's, 80's and into the 90's, I'm very aware of what they've done. I just know in that time frame I considered UGA better through that stretch and it's stuck until lately.

Also, in that time LSU's bowl record is lousy and with the 2 SEC championships at the end of the 80's. They were few and far between. that's all.

Things are on the up for Arkansas. From the cuff, here is how I analyze the situation.

Recruiting is getting better, still needs to improve further. Need to be in the top 15 nationally on a consistent basis. Player evaluation also comes into play, we'll see if Petrino and co. are good at that.

Have to effectively recruit Texas. Look at OK, they do not have much more high school talent than AR, but Stoops recruits the hell out of Texas. In AR's history, when AR had strong teams AR had a lot of good players from TX. I think this staff is trying to recruit on a national basis and to close gaps. We'll see how successful they are.

AR needs to allow high school teams to further develop it's talent. We have not even had spring practice 10 years yet (one of the positive contributions HDN made). This will help better develop in-state talent.

Fan support is growing. NWA is still growing, although at a more moderate pace. This is where the fan support growth will likely come from. More fan support provides better resources for all programs.

I think we need to still have a game or two in LR (as much as I hate it) to keep the state united in support behind the program.

Removing Hootie was a good move in the long term. He never recruited consistently well. Since out of state recruits are vital, I think we need a very strong recruiting staff.

If I think of more, I will share.

For those saying it will be impossible for AR to dominate the SEC, I don't see any team dominatg the SEC year-in and year-out although FL is close in the east.

the level of HS play has increased, imo, dramatically of the last 6 or 7 yrs. i still think those who run the AAA are a joke, but there are some solid HS coaches in the state right now, and the coaching is getting better overall.

I couldn't agree with this more, the AAA is all about power and money. Greedy bunch of bastards. And the comment that was made earlier about NWA growing, isn't it the Hispanic population that is responsible for the growth increase? From what I've seen down in the southern half all they give a damn about is playing soccar. From what I'm told from Hog fans down here Arky wanting to do away with playing games in Little Rock pisses them off. A lot of them have tickets to all the LR games, because Fay is just too far to drive and they don't like the wine and cheese crowd there. When they start with that talk, I always point out it is the same driving time from here to Death Valley as it is to Razorback Stadium and they could always convert over to being Tigah Fans. That gets them really steamed.

Was responsible for some growth but there is actually a somewhat a contraction in the hispanic segment. That said, I have noticed more hispanics in NWA wearing razorback apparal and even attending games. That still ranslates into $$$.

I've never understood why our fan base gripes about going to Fayetteville. A Tenn fan in Memphis has to drive to Knoxville?

I have LSU friends here in Bentonville, they drive to BR and don't gripe/whine or moan about it.

"Oh, it is too far and too expensive!" Gimme a break, fans of other schools do it.

That said, the games in LR are guranteed through 2016. I don't think we will ever lose all games in LR, even though we are the only major school with that type of ridiculous arrangement and it costs us millions.

AAA is absolutely worthless. Why in the hell does AR have 7 classifications? The 7A and 6A playoffs are an absolute joke.

I heard about that before from an Arkansas fan and immediately went "WTF?!? Why does Arkansas need 7 freaking divisions, is there like 20 schools in some of these divisions?"

Arkansas in reality needs no more than 5, and would do best with 4 divisions. It's not a very large state by any means. Hell, Georgia only has 5 division and a 6th has been talked about for a few years but still hasn't materialized.

Will end up 7th in the SEC in recruiting, not counting any non-qualifiers you end up having which will be a good bit.

What does OM have anything to do with this? We all know Nutt goes after underrated prospects and coaches them up. Always has done this.

well we have only two division teams ahead of us right now and that is really all that matters since we do not play in the East (we do not play Florida and Georgia every year) and have only Bama and LSU ranked higher than us and we all know how LSU vs Arkansas has played out over the past few years. You do realize that Mallet was a 5* and B Green from USC was a 4* and they are not in our numbers.

either way we have upgraded our program....you keep saying we will end up 7th in the SEC -- well were will we end up in the SEC west division since the West and East play each other for the championship?
