Not myself included, but I know a few people are already looking forward to that day coming.

Fly back from Vegas on Friday. Drive to Baton Rouge early Saturday morning.

I'm locked and loaded for EBR

Wes Johnson - Will be the next head coach at Arky

Head coaching is definitely in his future. Hopefully he gets that opportunity after winning a National Championship at LSU!

We got Wes from the Twins (via Arkansas) and Arkansas St. gets Alan Dunn.

My main concern is, as others have pointed out, our pitching staff. We have been absolutely snake bit with injuries to our pitching staff the last couple of years. Usually the over all team is good enough to over come that during the season but it bites us in the butt against elite competition.

Good grief, I just realized, the three big main sports in Arkansas have all had the injury bug this year. Someone needs to sacrifice a chicken to the injury gods.

I imagine we’ll win the last game and go 1-2.

I could see him or Nate Thompson (our hitting coach). Just depends when DVH retires because if he's at it for another five years then Johnson will be approaching 60.

There was a time when I thought it would be Vitello lol

Wes was a freshman at UAM when I was a RS-Junior. I'm 52 so I'd guess he's around 49 or 50 right now.

Wes and I were in school together. I remember the time we got caught smoking in 4th grade and all the teacher did was ask us for a smoke

Unfortunately LSU has had the same issue but not quite the extent y’all have seen. Praying this season is different and we can stay healthy.

This LSU team is loaded and a blast to watch. Here’s to hoping the hogs get healthy and have a successful rest of the season

Back in the day, always seemed like we were one pitcher short against LSU.

Might feel that way again this weekend, after all the injuries.

The self awareness of Arkansas baseball fans is unmatched imo. Y’all know what you have, which is almost always really good, and don’t feel the need to go full rant 100% of the time. It allows for threads like these to happen. It’s unfortunate that these types of threads end up with far too few replies because they lack the heat that drives most of the interactions on this site. I’m here for the heat as well but more actual conversations would be well received.

As for this weekend, I am as high on my tigers as I can ever remember. But, we are not without our concerns after week one of SEC play. We are vulnerable in spots (like youth in our lineup, albeit very talented youth). I think it’s fortunate for us that the series is in BR. The fan base has been tame for a few years now but should look like it’s former self this weekend ( weather may mess this up a bit unfortunately).

Skenes really has been a joy to watch. It’s hard to imagine a loss in game 1. After that, I lose some confidence as Arky can realistically win any game the play in. It’ll be up to the pitchers for both sides showing up or not. We seem to be figuring out quickly who can be relied on out the pen. Games 2 and 3 will likely come down to whose arms show up to play.

I’ll say 2-1 Tigers on the weekend.

Here’s to the umpires being on their A games so the boys can dictate the outcomes and to a fun series

A&M was a tough first weekend for that reason. While we probably should have swept the weekend, we could have easily lost Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately, we were just too potent for them, but their crowd is more engaged than anyone else in the conference imo (even though that engagement is merely bc they are a batshit crazy cult).
