Fans just like to complain more than try to understand what the coaches are calling.
Arkansas' fouls were mainly due to how they attempted to completely close down Alabama 3 point shooters and force Alabama to win by converting at the rim.
They were all over Wrightsell, Holloway beyond the arc at the expense of opening driving lanes that consistently left Philon, Sherrell etc 1v1 at the rim.
Arkansas did a good job in the sense that Wrightsell has been on a 3 pt shooting tear and they shut him down almost completely. But, one of Arkansas' weakest statistical areas is their interior 2pt FG% defense and that's what let them down. Alabama shot around 70% on 2 pt FG and did a good job pump faking foul prone shot blockers like Pringle.
On the other end, Alabama tried to prevent drives at the expense of some open looks and ended up getting punished by Acuff and Thomas hitting 12-18 from behind the arc.
In a game between 2 teams with elite offenses and middling defenses, it was about what you expect given the type defensive looks the coaches were employing.

Not a bad idea! I believe teams should try that more often!
