Just curious. Gotta be tough to keep putting your coaches at a disadvantage with these personnel issues conflicting with philosophy.

For what it’s worth I think that’s your best chance at winning and Pittman sure as hell can land olineman.

Having an offense built like a tank on the line and 70/30 run pass will win 8-9 games. Which is exactly what Arky needs. Let Pitt get them tough for a couple years. Theyll start stealing some games they shouldnt.

That’s an archaic thought. Ground and pound won’t work when you can’t match up in talent. Thus why Bret was a failure even with Pittman at Ol Coach

No.

Good chance Rhett Lashlee is our OC. He’s going to stick with the offense Chad was supposed to run but didn’t know how to, just beef up the Oline. At least Chad recruited some skill position talent for it.

Bret Bielema was a failure for a multitude of reasons. One being he lost all of his best recruiters. Pretty much stayed out of the state of Texas. His best seasons was lead by Allen, who now owns the passing records. He got fat(ter), lazy(ier) and (more) complacent.

I am not a big fan of the hire, I am not going to say he is our coach O.

I will say if he recruits and builds a staff, the only thing we should be bitching about is his call to go for it and stupid use of timeouts.

He's reportedly targeting Jay Johnson from Colorado for OC. He runs an RPO system similar to what Morris tried to run. Time will tell how that one works out, but I gotta admit I'm a little disappoint. I was of the impression we would shoot for some superstar type coordinators and I have never heard of this dude until last night.

I'm still excited about the Pittman hire, though.

It would be a smart move. They’re not going to have the athletes to run a spread. Might as well build a a culture of toughness. However, you might be able to bring in some read option with Jefferson.

RPO could work with Jefferson.

Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing him run it. Supposedly that's what Morris came here to do but we never saw it ran really.

My guess would be RPO with a heavier emphasis on the running game from both the RBs and our QBs.

Regardless it might be a year before this shows any signs of improvement. Next year's schedule not only looks to be tough but it is tough early.

Pittman preaches the value of being tough and we are going to get a chance to show that early. If we can survive the early part of the season with some fire still in our bellies then we might have a shot of knocking off someone we shouldn't down the home stretch.

I couldn't tell ya. I mean, obviously it's at least partially because that's what this "team" is "built" to run right now. It fits our current personnel. So I'll be looking forward to seeing how a ground and pound offensive line coach runs the same system as the guy we just fired does. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. Maybe go frick yourself, Quintana. What do ya think of that?
