Chavis has been the very definition of inconsistent in the past 7 years or so.

He's also infinitely better than the 2 retards(Throw in Earl Lane and call it 3) Retards we had running our D last year.

Most Rantards could have done as well as they did.

We are all fearing that JJ pain train, no doubt

JJ won't be All American, but you can't say that it will be hard for him to top JL and Hatch either.

You also lose:
Demetrius Byrd
Quinn Johnson
Brett Helms
Herman Johnson
Colt David
Darry Beckwith
Marlon Favorite
Tyson Jackson
Kriston Pittman
Ricky Jean-Francois

While this is a large list many of them aren't big loses. I would count Tyson and Herman as the only significant loses.

Alem>>>> Pittmen this clears the way for him to get more snaps.

RJF didn't do shite. Beckwith was a great leader, but he was also injury riddled and not physically the guy he used to be. Q. Johnson is a FB, a good one, but still a FB. Byrd didn't actually equal much total production for us. Colt David was our kicker. You can find kickers.

Favorite was good for a body and a face mask flag.

LSU shouldn't be top 10, but to say there's no reason to think we've improved is Rantarded.

I think Ole Miss is top 10-15 team.

Ole Miss won't be as good as last year. They have a target on their back now...they'll crack eventually. They will probably lose 2 games they shouldn't, people will forget about them, and then they'll come back and win a big game they shouldn't.

I think Arkansas is the sleeper in the west though fwiw.

Everybody keeps harping on our defense. If it wasn't for Chavis, Phillip Fulmer would have gotten fired years ago after Cut left the first time. Fulmer's O was the model of inconsistency.

If people don't think our defense will not be ANY better, and you think Chavis is not better than what we had, then there's nothing to talk about b/c you're stupid.

Here's the thing: LSU's offense should be better than last year, and we lost a couple games last year due to offense. If we are improved on both sides of the ball, LSU's record will improve.

Mallet+Petrino could be really good. I'm not certain of their schedule, and I think their D has been gutted over the past 2 season.

So you think LSU's talent is overrated then right? Because all of those guys were pimped like a motherfricker last year on here.

Well he should be blamed for their defense when it sucks, right? It's not like it's been stellar that entire time. I think he's a good DC, but maybe folks have figured him out a bit.

Chavis has fielded quality defenses.. when was the last time you heard ANYONE comment on the play of a Tennessee offense?

Well it would be hard to be worse that's for sure. Even with an overpaid DB coach.

Exactly. Maybe one of the years Clausen was there or maybe one year when Ainge was there. Still have nothing to say about them. Seems as if Chavis always took the shite even when the offense laid a big fricking egg.

1) Coaching played a large role in the downturn in our D

2) RJF was overrated. However means nothing. Every school has guys that don't meet expectations. It says nothing about the quality of the rest of the talent. If it meant anything USC would have been terrible because Vidal Hazelton was a huge bust.

3) I said that Lafell was better than Byrd before last year. He has great talent, but QB play and a terrible attitude hurt his production.

2) Who was pimped? Darry Beckwith? I fail to have seen any "Phear Favorite" threads. I think any rational fan knew that Pittman on 2 reconstructed knees wasn't going to be amazing.

3) Most of what I said was not necessarily that the players were bad simply that losing Your Kicker or your FB isn't a crushing loss.

4) Don't confuse the Rants talent evaluation with what rational people say about our talent.

The main players I remember being pimped were Rickey Jean Francois and Chad Jones.

Remember people were posting vids of RJF working out. Yeah, that worked out real well for us this year Ricky.

You really think Cheesedick is the one to right the ship? Not that Auburn has been terribly relevant on the national scene anyway, but you get the point.

I edited to account for RJF, who was a big letdown. I'm sure Earl Lane taught him how to take down a tub of potato salad though.

Auburn just so happens to be one of the Top 15 winningest programs in the country, so I'd assume we have been pretty nationally relevant.

And by the way, to assume Auburn will suck for all of eternity is just retarded, and seeing how that is what you said, I am using the transitive property to assume that you are, in fact, retarded.

Tyson Jackson and Ricky Jean Francois were huge disappointments. But's all I can think of that was over-hyped.

I posted the rankings above....it's plain as day that he's had some suckass defenses lately at UT (and some good ones).
