Like a previous poster stated. It’s good to have one G5 and one P5. It just gives you more football. I’m thinking about picking up a random G5 team that I have no ties to.
Normally, I would agree with you. But in the case of USM, it's weird. They spend all of their time arguing that they are above Ole Miss and MSU as an athletic program, and essentially refuse to accept their status as a G5 school. Yet, the adopt P5 schools they have no ties to (always a historical winner) so they can claim some weird type of "superiority" over OM and State. I don't know, they talk out of both sides of their mouth on it.
It would be like me suddenly cheering for Michigan for no reason other than to get "one up" on all of you (except Bama fans) regarding historical success since State historically sucks.
It's strange.

Is it better to follow a G5 that’s not in the same state as your P5?
It could be. Most MTSU fans I know are casual fans like me, so a lot of them support UT as well. Other, more hard core ones may resent UT which would actually be better in my case.
I don't see why Louisiana Tech fans would resent LSU, but I could be wrong. They've fielded some good teams recently as well and have a solid fanbase.
If you're wanting to go out of state but stay sort of close to Louisiana, UTSA would an interesting program to watch coming up. Houston of course is the best G5 program near Louisiana, and I don't think their fans care too much for A&M if you already dislike the Aggies.

Yea good points. I really liked Georgia Southern under Fritz but it seems like they’ve taken a step back after winning the sunbelt in their first year as a FBS program. They won like 10 games their first year and damn near beat Uga

That’s exactly how ULL fans are. They think they’re the only school in the state that’s right up there with LSU top to bottom. They think they’re above the rest of the schools here aside from LSU.
Exactly why my G5 won’t be them. It’s a conflict of interest to me. Their fans HATE LSU. Most bandwagon on bama just to piss LSU fans off

I believe UAH only offers nursing. That is the only medical facility I am aware of there. I worked on the new nursing building.
There's this facility in Huntsville. A know a guy who's a 4th year med student at UAB and he did his 3rd year in Huntsville.

Yeah USM and ULL are a lot alike from my time in Mississippi. USM doesn't feel like any of the Alabama G5 schools at all. The biggest difference is you can hardly find any USM fans who are fans of either OM or State as well. Like he said, they tend to be LSU or Alabama fans to piss off State and Ole Miss. Everytime they host us in everything they hoard the tickets to their fans and make it a rediculous amount to go to their games.
On the secondary market, it cost over $100 to go to one of their 3 games against Mississippi State. Yes that's just for one ticket for one game. So you'd be looking at over $300 for a regular season weekend that we had against them.
I would be good with never scheduling them in anything again. The football series died in the 80's like it needed to and they can't even make the American like their other former CUSA peers did.
On another note, I did go to a Southern Miss Louisville Basketball game in Hattiesburg when they were in the same conference to see Pitino. I think Louisville won like 101-52. Maybe USM fans will bandwagon to Kentucky now to piss off State MBB fans? Or UConn for WBB? Oh wait!
The one sport they don't bandwagon on is baseball. But after beating them both times in the Hattiesburg Regional a few years back, they've shut up. It felt as good as it did for LSU to beat ULL in the NIT. Their fans just trash talked the shite out of us. But beating them on their home field and seeing their dumbass coach get ejected was amazing!

Damn. Nice to see that we’re not alone in regards to the P5 SEC team and a little brother G5 team. It’s sad people have this mentality. They go against their own state just because they’re butt hurt.
It makes ZERO sense to root against your P5 instate team because that’s who represents Mississippi or Lousiana on a national scale. I guess these people are too small minded to see it that way!

You are a fricking moron! Quite possibly the dumbest poster on this site. Hopefully you are 15, because it's exactly how you come off.
Why in the frick should graduates and fans of other schools pull for another in-state school, regardless of conference or Power status?
We sure don't want the "die hard" tiggah morons rooting for UL.

i grew up in Lafayette... never seen so many ULL/ Bama stickers anywhere else in Louisiana. ULL fans are so negative, I had a few friends on the team and even they say its hard to pull for their own team

I agree to everything you said except this. I see them occasionally but it’s not as widespread as people on here say.
They hate LSU it’s hilarious. It’s one thing to not give a shite about LSU and root for your little team, but taking it to the next level and liking a rival is LOW.

Almost went to Tuscaloosa, but UAB offered me a few thousand in scholarship money plus I had free housing in Birmingham. UAB is a great school, had fun there. Still wore Bama gear every so often, no one batted an eye.
