I don't understand how you can put the criticism of Saban into context without knowing who's doing the criticizing, but apparently, that's okay with a lot of you.
How does it matter who it is making a fool of themselves?
Does it matter if Pres. Obama or Snoop Dogg tell you drugs are bad?
The issue is the message, not the messenger. THese hack sport's writer, or esteemed, keep bringing up Saban's and Alabama's past issues to discredit his message. Which is ludicrous to the point Saban was making.
Take Saban out of equation, and the message remains the same, but some people are unwilling to look past who the messenger is, and that, to me, is sad.
If Robbie Caldwell had made the "pimp" remarks there wouldn't be the outcry. The whole situation wreaks of hypocricy, but in the end it should be about whether you agree with Saban or not; not about what he may or may not have done in the past. And, it doesn't take getting published in the Boston Globe or Herald Citizen to stick to the issue at hand.
Litke is just another example of today's sports writers who think their commentary on an issue is more interesting than the issue itself. He and Mike Lupica are probably pen pals.
