Any chance SEC does away with divisions?

Just take the top 2 teams to the SECCG? If we were gonna try it, this seems like the year to experiment with something like that.

Not exactly related but why were their divisions in SEC basketball back in the day, and what was the reason they were done away with?

Good question. Not sure why, but it makes more sense especially in a year like this one.

Well for one in basketball everyone plays everyone so that makes it easier. Also basketball has a tournament already while football just picks the best teams per division

Because everyone could play everyone else at least once to determine conference seeding without a division.

Also, the SEC was getting routinely fricked with the SEC tournament set up with divisions when it came to NCAA seeding. Stansbury and State was the only one to vote against abolishing the basketball divisions.

if you're going to do that then you need to tear up the schedule completely
