Bruce Pearl had a minimal amount of more success than Mark Gottfried and they think they are Duke.

I'm still baffled by this idea that the "Tennessee job is CLEARLY a better job". What is this based on? BTW, that doesn't mean that Alabama's a better job. They are practically identical history wise and support their programs on the same level and earn as much money as each other when they're both successful. Sure, if we're comparing each school's last 5 years I get it but what does that have to do with each school's potential?

Presently ignoring possible sanctions Tenn is a better job due to recent success (dont ever forget how much this means theres a reason Kentucky managed to stay in the top 15 most of the year). But over history the programs are identical and there no way to argue one over the other. Add in our looming sanctions and i think the jobs are equal right now.

Would you rather stay with a program your building, and have the full support of the administration. Or, go to a program that has no idea what the NCAA will bring down upon them.

Of course you could argue the Bama job is better but my argument would be that Brent is a homer with no clue.

I think they were about equal before sanctions, with Tenn MAYBE having a SLIGHT edge. Tenn's recent success is just that, recent. It hasnt been going on long enough to make the job that much better. Add to that the shite storm its about to be in with the NCAA, and Alabama is the better job currently.

Here is the thing about basketball, ANY team can get hot for a few years, it takes consistently being improved for a long period of time for a program to be a "better job" than they were before. George Mason's success has been pretty close to Tenn's as far as timeline goes, is that all of a sudden a better coaching gig than alabama or a school like it? Not thinking so.

No. George Mason had one good year. The programs are not comparable. Tennessee has made the NCAA Tournament 6 years in a row and is 145-61 in that time frame. They also have a pipeline to the Atlanta Celtics running, a very nice four year old practice facility, and probably the best on campus arena in the nation.

I'm not saying the situations are the same or anything, but the Bama fans and media sound like the Mizzou fans and media when it was reported that Mike Anderson was the lead candidate for the Arkansas job last week.

Just sayin'....

and maybe even more importantly they are making money as a program

it is a positive feedback loop... when the fans are interested and will put money into the sport then the administration can see the return on further investing in the program

Right now UT is on the right side of that curve. If they can hire another solid coach they will remain fundamentally stronger than most programs in teh country (probably over 90%)
