One thing I think other SEC fans may not understand is why and how much UGA fans hate Georgia Tech. The other SEC out of state rivalries are on more even footing historically or recently (Florida/FSU, South Carolina/Clemson, etc.) so I know it comes across as slightly pathetic to hate a team that is largely irrelevant like GT. If you interact with their pure, pathetic obsession with all things UGA it becomes more clear.
I know we joke about "Rebsessed, Tidesessed, Aubsessed", etc. but Georgia Tech literally can't stop talking about all things UGA day and night 365 days a year. They truly hate UGA more than they could ever like their own program.

We get it, you're jealous of the fact you could not get into GT, let it go.

Bama actually had a nice rivalry going for a long time with Southern Miss and we played them every yr for a while

FALSE ... if we had to have one it would be Tiger High(a.k.a. Memphis State University) but this would actually be less equivalent to LSU & Tulane because they actually had a rivalry once ... Ole Miss and Memphis, not so much.

Georgia Tech used to be a big game but for the most part that rivalry is now non-existent

Auburn and Clemson should be natural rivals. Both insular, country communities full of rednecks.
I lived in ATL for awhile surrounded by UGA fans and never heard any of them talk that passionately a/b GT. Maybe it's an age thing (we're all sub-30).

You're definitely right on the age thing. Most younger UGA fans have never known any differently than beating Tech all the time.
I'm only 27, but with my family being about half Tech fans and half UGA fans, this game is definitely bigger for me than most younger UGA fans.
Although I'll still say the Cocktail Party is a bigger rivalry.
