I mean it was "we" back then for Nick. That's how it should be said.

Saban could have never accomplished at LSU what he has done at Alabama. He went 8-5 in year 3 at LSU. At Bama he went 14-0 in his 3rd year. Trust me...Saban is so thankful he came to Alabama.

Why not? What would have prevented him from accomplishing the same? If you are going to say something stupid like that, back it up. Give me reason.

He went 8-5 in year 3 at LSU. He also was not as good of a coach as he is today. Coaches, like players, improve over time. The Nick Saban we had was not the same thing as what he became.

Alabama did not make Nick Saban better. Nick Saban got better on his own and would have at LSU as well.

But you won't answer my question since you can't. You don't have a real argument to back it up.

Can you imagine what kind of a run Saban would have taken LSU on had he never left? Wow!

Instead he came to Alabama and made LSU his bitch. I bet that stings every time you think about it.

Boy does it! I won't lie. It stings like hell and is my 2nd greatest source of sports angst. (After the 2018 NFC Championship Game no call... )

But, it's just football. So it doesn't have any real effect on my life as a whole.

I was going to post a troll response, but I appreciate your honesty / sincerity. It's interesting to theorize about what would have / could have been different. For sure Saban has grown as a coach, but I'm sure the university (and the people he surrounds himself with) have an impact on that growth. It would have been different at LSU, but it may not have curbed his success. Cheers

That's fair.

I actually think he would be having the same success here.

We have a fertile recruiting ground and no major in state competetion for the Louisiana talent. He would be here for 24 years now and would virtually be a god in this state. Every kid would want to play for him.

The fact that 2 average at best head coaches won National Championships here kind of shows the strength of the program itself.

I mean, seriously...if you're really this fricking stupid, you shouldn't be telling everyone on the internet.

So, genius English professor, what pronoun should he have used? "They" clearly isn't appropriate, because he was one of them.

"Accidentally". Congrats for the most retarded post of the day. Be sure to show your certificate with the smiley face to the other kids riding home on the short bus today.

I agree. The only caveat to that (and it applies to Bama now too) is that 'in-state talent' is beginning to diminish in importance with the NIL. Now, every university can essentially pay to snag 1-2 of the best prospects from anywhere in the nation. If the top guy in AL or LA is getting offered $$$$ from a program in Idaho (that UA or LSU isn't willing to match)....

But yeah, the argument stands to reason that Saban's success would have carried over... to a higher or lesser degree, but still huge success.

Saban on 20th anniversary of 2003 national championship team at #LSU: It doesn't seem like 20 years. I love that team. Those guys came to LSU when we weren't very good and bought in to what we were doing. I can't tell you how much I appreciate their commitment.

He was the coach of that team, so using "we" in that context is/was appropriate. You're reaching here, big time
