In one play, one gif. There's a lot going on here.

As you watch this gif several times, I would like to point out a few things.

1: The first time you watch this gif- On the right side, UGA #0 TE Darnell Washington puts a linebacker on his arse, like he was flicking an ant off a picnic table. And UGA right tackle then dives on the poor pathetic bastard so he doesn't get back up.

2: The second time you watch this gif- UGA #30 running back Daijun Edwards, not a huge guy, puts his helmet right into the appendix of a blitzing linebacker and locks him up. Great physical play by UGA #30

3: The third time you watch this gif- Tenn linebacker #9 has a chance to stop this from happening, but he is running horizontally to tackle someone (Stetson) running vertically. That's just bad football instincts. #9 for Tenn didn't even take an angle. Just ran straight at him.

4: The fourth time you watch this gif- Tenn #10 did a great job of getting to the QB and blew up the play, I'm not going to dogshit him. Stetson scrambled and got away from him, as he often does, but #10 did his job. He pressured and pursued the QB, he created havoc in the backfield. It's disappointing to see, I imagine as a Tenn fan, that nobody else on Tenn's defense was able to capitalize on that. Especially #9, see above.

5: The fifth time you watch this gif- Stetson (UGA #13) could have ran out of bounds for a big chunk of yards, untouched, but said frick It, faked inside, and took a big hit to get the TD.

The Gif (thank you LewDawg)

Great analysis. Love this gif. Ive seen another that focuses on 0 doing what he does but this one is nice because you can see the entire play. Does anyone have one of Jalen Carter tossing the Mays kid?

I see a good play by Bennett. Could easily been a sack.

That Darnell Washington block is hilarious.

That block was a microcosm of the game. Severe arse beating

Kirby didn’t want him getting hurt after that targeting hit

#2 should have been kicked out of the game for blatant targeting.

Except for the QB is not a defenseless player on that play.

I don't have the number right now...

But stetson's QBR against the blitz is ridiculous. Play man coverage behind the blitz and you are risking a scramble touchdown every time.

Play zone behind the blitz and you risk Bowers, Washington, McConkey, or McIntosh shaking a man for the touchdown on a hot throw.

Stetson isn't big. But he accelerates like a squirrel.

You don't have to be defenseless for targeting.
Lowering the head, crown to helmet, and launching is a targeting ejection every time. The penalty is to protect the defender from neck injury. It has nothing to do with defenseless player.

Edit to add: the hit doesn't look bad from this angle. Which is probably why they didn't call it. However, the sideline camera (which was the live play on TV) shows the helmet contact pretty clear.
Ejecting a player is a big deal. I like that they are not going out of the way to do so.

wait...do you think that targeting goes out the window if a player is not-defenseless? Targeting is targeting.

You don’t know how to watch things away from the ball and understand how a football play works.

Are you thinking this was a designed scramble?

If you look at the routes, they all go to the left, clearing out the right side of the field. I don't think it was a designed run, but a run option was built in if nobody was open because if nobody is open, that means half the field is empty.

The primary read on 3rd and 10 yielding about 6 or 7 yards and the line shifting 4 man right to call the running back to pick up the 3 tech DL (which caused the linebacker in man coverage on the running back to fire inside late) just seems too perfectly designed to get Stetson on the edge with no one in the middle of the field with eyes on him.

I think if it's a designed run, Darnell takes out the second linebacker instead of breaking left into a route.

Are watching the same #9? What angle could he possibly have taken?
