Let's say the big money boosters fork out a good chunk of change for the position.
Malzahn I think is siiting in a fine position, period.
Is Kirby Smart the answer? I did that because his name always comes up.
What about Tubbs? Is he washed up or does he have some years left in him. Arkansas native with Texas connections.
Do you go after TCU's Gary Patterson? He's been recruiting Texas for a while and could recruit with the bigs at Arkansas.
Skip Holtz? Another Holtz did fairly well at Arkansas.
Randy Edsall?
Mike "pirate" Leach at the helm of the flagship? Might be pretty interesting. He also recruited Texas and has the contacts.
That's just a few names off the top of my head, and I don't know if their contracts would allow some of these names to even consider it, but if they plop down the cash, that will speak volumes. I've seen Butch Davis name tossed around but that would be a horrible hire to fix this black eye. A hell of a coach but with baggage.
Who you got?

You don't need big money for the names you mentioned.

ETA: Patterson excluded.

Patterson would be a big time hire. I'd be happy with that.

Well yeah. Not sure the incentive is there for him though. And this isn't just about Arkansas, I'm not sure he would leave for LSU if the circumstances were there either.

According to some A&M posters, a TCU alum has given him oil rights which is incentive enough to never leave TCU.

Supposedly he's one of two that have been contacted. Don't know if they think he's a realistic option or just "WTF don't hurt to ask".
We got oil too.

May very well be the highest paid coach in the country, gets oil money on the side

Usually I don't believe stuff like that, but A&M and UT insiders have hinted at it often and there are some very influential people with oil money involved with TCU.

Yes, I'm familiar with this rumor. Not saying I don't believe it but I've never seen it actually proven from a contractual standpoint.

I'm not sure it's an actual contract. Also, TCU is a private school so they might be able to hide that easier

I've always heard the King family (think King Ranch) are those behind it.

Like I said, I would just need more information before I run with this thing and when Miles was possible to Michigan twice, and Patterson's name would come up, we heard similar stuff from unnamed people.

I'm just trying to understand the true extent. I mean, what kind of royalty interest are we really talking about?

In 2008, I wouldn't have thought both Arkansas and Ole Miss would have new coaches due to firings.

I have no idea of the actual deal obviously, but I've always heard it as some percentage of profits from a few fields owned by TCU boosters. He makes around 3 mil I believe and it's always been suggested he's one of the top 5 or 10 paid coaches in the country with the extra money on top.

I know. I'm just thinking out loud. And curious because nobody has every proved it and I would think this would be something that we could find.

between Petrino and the whole MSU basketball falling apart, this has been a pretty good few weeks for Ole Miss fans.
