Although he ended up getting injured a ton, Trinton Sturdivant started all 13 games as a freshman at LT at UGA. How many times has that happened? He was also a freshman all american

Yeldon averaged more ypc than Girly and is a better rb.

His schedule that year was also arguably tougher than Gurley this year. Gurley isn't McFadden.
Gurley's better. Don't be a homer.
Either way, Herschel is the captain of this team.

Dmac easily over Gurley.

and he wasn't a starter.
But he played in all 13 games, and actually did start one of them. It's tough to find true freshmen starters on defense in the SEC. I haven't found any from UGA since I've been looking in the past few minutes.
I don't think you are going to find a better true freshman cb from the SEC than honeybadger.
agreed. I made the statement that he wasn't a starter to emphasize how good he actually was as a true freshman. He wasn't on the field every down and still had stupid stats.

wouldn't say easily, but I agree McFadden was a better RB than Gurley. I think Bo Jackson trumps both though. That dude was a freak. However, if you've never seen him play and you look at just yards, then you would disagree.
IMO, the two best true freshmen RBs I have ever seen film on or watched were H. Walker and B.Jackson and it isn't close. Those two could be 1A/1B, but Walker's stats are so much better, I would probably say he would be #1, Jackson #2.

Tebow for qb. Pretty obvious that he should've been the starter over Leaky.
Edit: Herschel for rb, and it's not even close.

Weurffel was a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN.

September 18, 1993 Redshirt freshman Danny Wuerffel will start today for Florida against Tennessee. He replaces Terry Dean, who also will playl, coach Steve Spurrier said. "It wasn't a big secret," Spurrier said. "Looking at this whole situation, Danny's the best player to start the game. We'll see what happens after that." Junior Terry Dean lost starting honors afgter he threw four interceptions and Wuerffel directed two fourth-quarter scoring drives in the Gators' come-from-behind victory at Kentucky last week.

OP says true freshmen only.
The SUn Sentinel in 1993 reports Weurfefeel as a redshirt freshman.

When did I say anything about Wuerffel?

Andre Smith for OT. Not many tackles score a TD in their freshman season. LINK

2006 (FRESHMAN): Started all 13 games at left tackle as a true freshman and led the team with 831 snaps on the season ... one of five players to play over 800 snaps ... played at least 65 snaps in 10 of 13 games and played more than 70 snaps five times ... led the offensive line with 62 knockdown blocks .. scored first career touchdown on a lateral from quarterback John Parker Wilson in the Petro Sun Independence Bowl against Oklahoma State on Dec. 28.

As of now, Dmac over Gurley as a true freshman.
Based on what exactly? Gurley has the better stats...
Will Gurley reach the level DMAC reached? I don't know, but as a freshman you can't argue that DMAC was better than Gurley.

You can argue Dmac is better than Gurley if you're not brainddead.
Gurley played in 14 games.
McFadden played in 11 games.
McFadden didn't become a starter until a few games into the season and only had ONE carry against Vanderbilt.
McFadden was also the best kick returner in college football.
Arkansas had a shite offensive line a shittier quarterback and a shittier coach. Gurley was living off of the Offensive Line and Aaron Murray.

Updated the OP a little, but I need more votes for certain guys to feel confident about putting them on there.

Using that argument, # of games played and attempts, then Bo Jackson should be there with Herhshel, and MCfadden and Gurley can be tossed aside.

Again, this is about freshman seasons.

Gurley split carries with Marshall all year. He would have had AT LEAST 300-400 more yards if he was the only feature back. As for the difference in games played, look at the YPC stat. Gurley only avergaed 1/10 less of a yard than DMAC did, and Gurley had much more carries.

Gurley returned a kick in his first college game, and then never received another kickoff. Gurley had 1 return for a TD and DMAC had 2. Woah.

UGA started a true freshman, a true sophomore and other guys that had limited expierence on the o-line. In fact, many people cited the o-line as the weakest facet of our offense before the season.
Again. You can't argue DMAC had the better freshman season.

You can give QB to Leak, he was a little better than Zeier, slightly better % and total yards. I don't want to, but it would be fair.
Amari Cooper should be there too, I didn't know he was a true freshman.
Bennett? Who is Bennett?
