Yeah, same for basketball. I suspect Arkansas is ranked ahead of us because of more tourney appearances even though we've won more actual tournament games.

You shouldn’t get any points just for making the tournament. That’s stupid. And winning a natty should be worth a lot more.

So why don't you do one like SoG and let the us compare.

How is a championship worth only five more points than a runner up? What logic did you use in making this. I don't understand at all.

Yeah, so it doesn't change anything really. I don't get why he was bent out of shape.

National Title at 30 points means 1 national title cancels out a decade of not making the NCAAT.

That is probably about right IMHO.

It all really comes down to how many points someone wants to assign the National Championship

Final Fours
Arkansas- 6
Florida- 5

Elite Eight
Arkansas- 10
Florida- 9

Sweet Sixteen
Arkansas- 11
Florida- 11

I will add, if we ran these same general figures in football, Alabama would be at roughly 2,000,000 and #2 would be at about 300.

I would easily trade 40 NCAA baseball tournament appearances for just 1 natty. Just ask Florida St.

Ok, that's fine, then just rank programs based on national titles won and be done with it. You are welcome to think that way.

That isn't really the point of this, though.

Any thought to adding a metric to include regular season wins as part of your rankings?

Aside from boosting Alabama's standings, it is also a fair measurement of program consistency.

And UF having more tournament wins.

It's kind of built into NCAAT appearances. Baseball and basketball are almost completely judged on what happens in the postseason, IMHO.

Now, there is an argument to be made that this basically ignores pre-1970 basketball outside of Kentucky, and that would be true.

Well George, one accomplishment is literally the best accomplishment a team can hope for and the other isn’t exclusive at all. This is how I would do it:
Natty 35
Runner up 25
CWS 15
Regional Champ 10
Tournament .5

I'll add these are not scientific, I just riffed based off some stuff I've seen any a general thought of weighting things. As was noted in the baseball only thread, a lot of it comes down to what you think is most important.

Some think the regular season, some think the national title is basically it, some are in between.
