recruiting budget be size of UK,
There is a HUGE difference in UK's tradition and bama's tradition. Kids go to UK to be lottery picks.

Yep. Battle should probably lose his job if Marshall gets a $5 million offer. There are only four coaches in the NCAA even making $4 million.
If Greg Marshall accepts the job for $5m Bill Battle will be the toast of Alabama!

If he's our #1 choice, then I really don't care how much we pay him.

You aren't even bothering to respond to what I typed.

Not challeniging you, but if you could find a thread full if auburn fans blowing Barbee, that would seriously be amazing to read
When we hired him he was in our top 3ish I guess

We could have taken a cheaper path and hired a NCAA cheater last year. Maybe we could have over paid a cheater 2.2 million when 99% of the NCAA wouldn't touch him.

If your prospective coach was in the sweet sixteen for like the 9th year in a row why would you not be excited" What kind of shite ball fan would you have to be to not be stoked about Greg Marshall?

bama will never be upper echelon in bball just like Auburn won't. There will never be enough talent in Alabama to build an elite program. The upper echelon talent it takes to build a program will go to Duke, Syracuse, UK, Zona.........hell, even UF.....before they would chose to come to Auburn or bama. Each school may have a great year here or there, but neither of us will ever be able to sustain upper echelon status in bball.

Fans of the school who's athletic dept can't turn a profit telling us what we should pay for a coach. Don't you have a pay-day loan due or something

Wasn't it just four or five years ago that bama was in debt because of their athletics?

Well, certainly not with that attitude. Geez, Debbie fricking downer.

Who's been to 9 consecutive sweet 16's? And what does that have to do with tony Barbee?

It was hyperbole. And it was more in response to the other post about how Bama fans were stupid for getting excited about Marshall.

I can't follow your line of thinking any longer
good luck on y'all's coaching hire

Stop trying to pass off your opinion as fact. There is nothing stoping Alabama from attaining the level of success enjoyed by such schools as Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconisn. To speak in certainties like you just did is foolish. You have no clue if we can attain an elite bball program.

I have to agree. It's pretty fricking annoying having to listen to myself all day.

Actually disagree. I think with the SEC Network and the exposure through it, both teams could become a real player in the Atlanta area, which is probably the 3rd best area in the country to recruit basketball players.
Both will have to become a little more adept at the AAU foolishness, but both of our locations are great to recruit the Atlanta area.
We may not be Duke/UNC level, but we can both be right behind.

My opinion? How long has bama been playing bball? When has bama ever been considered as a national name like Mich. St. when it comes to bball?
ETA Many bama fans consider Wimp to be your best bball coach ever. He never got bama to a point where you were considered elite.
