If you don't know shite about college football history I guess you could come to that conclusion.

Seasons were only 10 games most of the time before the 1970.

Bear had 2 of them before 1970, won the NC in 1961 but not in 1966 despite going 11-0.

He did it 7 times from 1970 through 1979.

Now teams are going 15+ games a year, it's going to be much more common.
