good reason why you need awesome looking cheerleaders. girls with big tits and fine asses. those camera guys can't resist that (neither can I). poof! instant image change.

Couldn't agree with you more. It'll happen, we just need the bluehairs to finish dying off. Sounds harsh, but it's reality. There's a completely different mindset between that group and younger Aggies, and especially those under, say, 45 or so. If the older group had it their way, we'd be The Citadel on the Brazos. Thank Odin, Ahura Mazda and Bhuddha for General Rudder, who was too big of a badass for that bunch to accuse of being a "commie" for dragging the University into the modern world.

Believe me, we've been lobbying for that for a while. Sooner or later we'll have them.

I just don't understand why we can't have both. Appease the blue hairs and keep the all-male yell leaders--from the corps, and give us some Stankyleg to look at.

I'm with you.

I'm not in favor of getting rid of the yell leaders at all. They serve a valuable purpose - leading the organized yells we do, which is a unique and impressive part of our game day experience.

I just think they should be augmented with female cheerleaders in skimpy outfits. No reason we can't have BOTH, other than obstructionism from irate bluehairs and their partners in backwardness and obstinancy: the Corps and the yokel-spawn who paint overalls and wear them to games.

The very first thing I'd do though would be to break up the Corps Block. That isn't a tradition; it started in the late 90's early 2000's. And it's terrible. It causes the cameras to only show Corps guys, giving the public the false impression that they are all that A&M is about, even though they're a small minority. It also further alienates the Corps from the general student body, which already has plenty of reason to regard them as embarrasing goons without block seating to reinforce their "differentness".

The whole notion of wanting to see someone fail or ignoring aggie like they don't exist is preposterous.

Why not just be a Nebraska fan. I mean, MAYBE, you really want to see Nebraska have a Game Day commercial...

Point being, rationalize it however you like, go vote for Nebraska.

I was there when that shite started.

They had fish pulling Jr/Sr seats and we all had to move on out of the way.

And, another thing. The original yell leaders customized the yells for each game/each opponent. That's why we had YELL PRACTICE, so everybody would know the yells for the following game. WHY DO WE KEEP DOING SOME OF THE SAME, USELESS YELLS? It's not hard. They've done it a few times and it is very effective.

How could this NOT be epic -- Watermelon Yell. Rick Barnes shot his mouth off about how we yell "sit down, bus driver" when he's bitchin at refs. He said, "it's like that old watermelon yell. Watermelon, Watermelon, Watermelon, Rind, look at the scoreboard, see who's behind." Next time we play, voila. Yell practice serves a purpose.

The only aggies Ive seen who wanted the dance team on the field were on Texags. Im currently on campus and I only met one person who wanted them and I dont hang around a bunch of corp kids or pearl snap types either. The question was typically...why? Most people picked the school knowing what it was and dont feel a need to change it or its perceptions. The one poll I saw passed around on facebook was 6:1 against it so to see everyone on here for it is surprising. Also, aggie apologists annoy the shite out of me.

Do the poll again. Ask if they want some strippers dancing on poles around the stadium a la Miller Lite girls and keep the yell leaders. I will bet vital parts of my anatomy that it would be 6:1 the other way.

Im always skeptical of polls. The response you get from them is largely determined by how they're worded.

If you have a poll that says "Do you support killing our sacred Yell Leader tradition in order to allow a cadre of derp-looking feminists to take the field in Longhorn gear carrying placards reading "Death to America!?" I have no doubt you'd get a negative answer.

If you posed it like "How 'bout we keep the Yell Leaders and let them continue to do their thing, but add beautiful women in tiny, tight-fitting outfits who will serve no other purpose than to parade hottness?" I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a male in opposition.

If we lose this, it's nobody's fault but ours, because we didn't make a big enough push until the very end. I'm more than a little pi$$ed off.

BTW, this is my first post on this board, I just signed up, and I - like many Aggies - are thrilled and grateful to be a part of our outstanding conference. I wished we'd joined back in '91 with Arkansas, or in '94-'95 instead of going Big 12, or perhaps that we'd never left in 1915 when we decided to join a bunch of other teams that eventually became the SWC.

Bottom line, we're thrilled and proud to be with you. God Bless.

As was I. Pretty much every CT and BQ that was class of 2001 or earlier remembers what it was like WITHOUT Corps Block...and wishes nothing but the worst on Malon Southerland, Ted Hopgood, and Wally Groff for forcing it on us.

You can thank Bill Byrne for that changing as well. Everything had to be "scripted" to allow for the almighty ads to run as scheduled on the 12th Man TV.

Go Aggies!

With the amount of "gay" jokes A&M takes, they could come up with twice as many inbred trailer trash redneck jokes for other SEC teams
