After watching this 2020 draft, I still have Cam Newton as the top QB in SEC history

Cam only had one other offensive player to get drafted and it was in the 7th round. He didn't have a roster full of NFL players making him look great. No way Joe Burrow would have won an National Championship with 2010 Auburn.

1st Round

Cam Newton - QB
Nick Fairly - DT

7th Round

Zach Clayton - DT
Lee Ziemba - LT

1st Round

Joe Burrow - QB
K'Lavon Chaisson - DE
Justin Jefferson - WR
Patrick Queen - LB
Clyde Edwards-Helaire - RB

2nd Round

Grant Delpit - S
Kristian Fulton - CB

3rd Round

Damien Lewis - OL
Lloyd Cushenberry III - OL
Jacob Phillips - LB

4th Round

Saahdiq Charles - OL
Rashard Lawrence - DL

6th Round

Blake Ferguson - LS

7th Round

Stephen Sullivan - TE

Over 50 draftees were on teams that LSU ran thru this year, 15 in the 1st round

It's not an opinion when one guy had an NFL roster.

He wasn’t a good passer.

Stats do not lie.

He won an NFL MVP. You don't do that by running.

Agreed. Cam coulda won a championship at 90% of P5 schools. Joe, not so much.

Same. Burrow had the skill but also had a great system and top notch talent.

A lot of other players have had the same circumstances vs lesser competition and still couldn't do what Burrow in the SEC.

Some guys make their teammates better (Burrow), some guys don’t (Cam) and make themselves look good.

AL.com - the #1 news outlet in A1abana - disagrees.

Up until Monday night, my default position was that Cam Newton’s 2010 was the greatest individual season in college football history.

Up until Monday night, my default position was that either 1995 Nebraska or 2018 Clemson enjoyed the greatest team season in college football history.

On Tuesday morning, my default position is that both positions have changed.

Joe Burrow’s 2019 is the greatest individual season in college football season.

LSU’s 2019 is the greatest team season in college football history.

Burrow didn’t turn 14 players into draft picks.

Cam and Burrow were both great, and Cam’s team was certainly worse which if that’s all you look at, your prerogative.

Why does no one ever bring up what an egg Cam laid in the national championship? Same as the super bowl, the moment just gets to him. Burrow... not so much

Burrow has the records. Good to know your only standard is who the does the most with the least. Also good to know that you value glorified running backs behind center.
