Your talent is relative to your opponents. Clemson had a bigger talent advantage all 3 years he was there than LSU has the past 3-4 years.
quote:

Average player ranks from 2006-2008 (3 years prior to Steele): 2006: Clemson - 85.29 Rest of ACC - 81.46 Difference - 3.83 2007: Clemson - 84.10 Rest - 83.23 Difference - 0.87 2008: Clemson - 88.64 Rest - 82.36 Difference - 6.28 Average player ranks for LSU vs. SEC (Last 3 classes) 2013: LSU - 91.03 Rest - 86.55 Differense - 4.48 2014: LSU - 90.49 Rest - 87.61 Difference - 2.88 2015: LSU - 89.92 Rest - 88.00 Difference - 1.92

The talent on Clemson's roster was marginally better, in comparison to the rest of the ACC, than LSU's is in comparison to the SEC. Not some huge gap like you continue to imply.

I think its crazy that (Steele) won 3/5 categories since Steele had significantly less talent and also played with an uptempo offense while Chavis had an offense that controlled the clock.

The only two that matter are the efficiency metrics: yards per play and 3rd down % and Chavis won both of those.

Tfl/sack totals etc are like yards on offense. It's nice but what really matters is what happens per play, or per possession...

You could have laid that out so it was easier to read.

Average player ranks from 2006-2008 (3 years prior to Steele):
2006: Clemson - 85.29 Rest of ACC - 81.46 Difference - 3.83
2007: Clemson - 84.10 Rest - 83.23 Difference - 0.87
2008: Clemson - 88.64 Rest - 82.36 Difference - 6.28

Average player ranks for LSU vs. SEC (Last 3 classes)
2013: LSU - 91.03 Rest - 86.55 Differense - 4.48
2014: LSU - 90.49 Rest - 87.61 Difference - 2.88
2015: LSU - 89.92 Rest - 88.00 Difference - 1.92

The funny thing is that these threads look EXACTLY like LSU fans defending the hire to Tennessee fans back in 2009. The Vols tried to warn us, but we'd have none of it.

Because he was coming to coach at LSU, a brand known for dominating defense.

It's funny that Sumlin played LB in college and has never had anything to with defense since.

Really? LSU fans were saying they were counting on their awesome offensive system so almost any defensive improvement would be a huge positive?

I would love to read those threads, and imagine a time when the LSU offense was trusted to put points on the board.

Lol he wasn't the defensive coordinator. Saban tried him at that position and found him wanting.

You have made your position clear already. Sit back and enjoy the heat from the grease fire you have made.

I never really watched SEC football before we joined (except a little Bama and UF).

Corey Raymond's defense held Aggy to 3 points in 2013 before a CB slipped and allowed the first and only TD that Johnny Manziel threw against LSU.

When someone says ________'s defense, and the person in the underlined portion is not the DC or head coach, then that someone sounds like a dumbass.

Just a FYI

LSU's offense averaged over 30 PPG in 2008 and over 38 in 2007.
