Modifying the "targeting" rule enacted for the 2013 season whereby if a targeting ejection is overturned on review, the 15 yard penalty will be overturned as well,

This concerns me though

Georgia lost directly because of the bs targeting penalties. I almost felt sorry for them

So getting there quickly is now a penalty? What do you have to slow down to a light jog to tackle now?

No not at all. You just can't hit the QB while he's in a throwing posture above the shoulders or below the knees.

Bust his arse still, just do it in his midsection. Not that hard to understand.

The 8th ref will enforce the Saban rule.

What? I was referring to running "unabated" into the QB. Not where they hit.

ETA: Oh, I see. I didn't connect the two. They meant running unabated into the QB AND hitting them above the shoulders or below the knees. I'm retarded. Carry on.

My question is, why did those jerk weeds think the first rule on the list was a good one in the first place? Are they really that lacking in the common sense department?

I think most understand the rule. But is some dumbass ref going to throw the flag if the defender gets tripped up and grabs the QB falling down below the knees? I realize by the rule he'd no longer be unabated but I can easily see where a ref is going to frick this up.

Yep. I dont mind the targeting rule but if we are going to spend the time to review the play, lets get the whole call right as well.

The QB one, while still overwrought, isn't nearly as bad as the targeting one still is. They've removed the ridiculous penalty-even-on-overturned-ejection bit, but the basic rule is still there. The QB one, while ridiculously filled with grey area, at least allows for a player to make sure he's obviously tackling (so I wouldn't think it unduly penalizes twitchy DEs unless they are committing a foul in the process. I'm aware of the controversy in the NFL, but they tend to show common sense even there.)
