That's what we're asking WhiskeyBent.

At least we will play a reasonable opponent in our first game. VT isn't in our league, but they still are athletic enough and should be a decent test for the OL.
ETA: I think Kelly and Shepard are the bigger question marks. I don't know about the rest of the Alabama posters, but in my mind, Arie is more than capable.

You put it on a thread out of context.

What I want to know is who is going to step up for Ryan Swope and if you know his rating out of HS then please share.
Malcom Kennedy will most likely be taking over Swopes job since he often backing up Swope in the slot last year or playing the opposite side slot. Kenedy was the receiver who caught the last touchdown pass against Bama over Miliner. LINK
As far as highschool rating.. I'm not sure it's relevant. Swope himself was a 3 star receiver and he had a career better than a lot of 4 star and even 5 star receivers.

Who replaces D. Moore at DE and how highly was he recruited?
Not sure we have a particular stud coming up to replace Moore. This will probably be the most significant loss to lineup this year. Will just have to wait and see who develops into it but I don't expect anyone to 'replace' Moore's results on the field.
quote:
Lastly, Since we know you will have a beastly offense can you tell me about your LB unit and secondary.
We lost 2 starting LB's, Sean Porter and Jonathan Stewart. Both will be difficult to replace but coming into the second year of the new defensive system(we ran a 3-4 before Snyder arrived with Sumlin, now a 4-3) will help close the gap of the loss of the two graduated seniors.
The Secondary will be fine compared to what we had last year, biggest perceived loss I believe will be Dustin Harris and .. although he got a lot of spotlight for his ability to return punts(when he didn't drop them) I always felt that Harris was a liability at CB. For the most part our secondary was young last year and will be further developed this year.

again I ask for star ratings here as well.
Not much to give here on start ratings. Maybe it's an A&M thing but most of our players will be 3 stars until Sumlin's classes starting coming into starting positions. That being said, you have to understand from our perspective teams like Texas have been bringing in top 5 classes and doing absolute shite with them. So weight on 'who has how many stars' once signing day is over has not been a real bullet point for our player development tracking.

And basically what lobotomy said. For whatever reason people think swope was our #1 receiver when it really was mike evans
Damn it man, I thought Swope was the best.
Also thanks to all of the Ags that answered . I never thought I'd get so many detailed responses and I appreciate it. Good luck with the upcoming season.

How many do you think will get meaningful SEC minutes this year?
I deliberately left Jordan Points and Jay Arnold off because I'm sure they will redshirt.
Aside from the starters, Alexander, Hall, Manning, Golden, Walker, and Manukainu should get meaningful minutes.
If we have to play any of the others for significant amounts of time, we're in trouble.

I think Kelly is the most solid to start of the three. The coaches clearly feel good about him and so do the other players.
I would put Shepard next as he has significant playing time and reportedly Brown is a better athlete but is very raw.
I would put Arie last for two reasons. He has had significant injuries to both knees, so much so there were questions at one point if he could continue to play. The second reason is LG seems to be where the most competition is. Steen is a pretty solid lock at RG, barring injury, so that means Luatua, Lindsay, Taylor will push for the starting job at LG. And as much as Bama likes to put the best 5 on the field if at all possible Brandon Greene could be in the mix as well even though he is more of a left tackle.
In the end I think it will be Cyrus, Arie, Kelly, Steen and Shepard as the starters with Greene, Taylor, Lindsay, Luatua and Brown behind each respectively. But the rotation is not likely to be solid for a few games into the season as Bama looks to find the right mix of best talent and best chemistry.
Regardless it should be a very respectable line corp even though they have to replace 3 starters. It will arguable have more physical talent than last year, but missing the experience and football intelligence that experience brings.
Mario Cristobal looks like a pretty darn good OL coach as well, replacing Stoutland. Like most I am still scratching my head about FIU firing him.
That is how I see it IMHO, for what is it worth

He was told to quit talking to other AD's about jobs and interviewing and such. Obviously the AD meant what he said because of that he was fired.
