Is it just me or has the color commentating quality on ESPN dropped tremendously. I watched the prime time game Saturday with A&M and LSU (not a great game I may add), and these guys were a mess. I'm not even sure if they were at the stadium, there was hardly any mention about the weather affecting play of both offenses. Only thing they really talked about was the referee who did the 7OT game and how A&M was 5 in the CFP poll and what they needed to do to get in.

What do you guys think? Did ESPN layoff a bunch of on-air talent this year?

They weren't very good. Ole Miss - Miss St commentators sucked also.

Agreed. Orlovski is good in small doses, but he was terrible.

I've laid off commenting about this because it will obviously look like rationalizing our putrid offense that night, but it really was odd to hear them go on an on about the lack of offense on both sides, yet barely talk about the rain. I don't think it rained constantly, but there were plenty of shots that showed a heavy downpour at times.

Players on both sides were slipping all over, and all QB's struggled to throw a decent pass. None of them were all-world going in, but when the collective effort is something like 35% completion, at some point you have to talk about why.

Even the stuff they did talk about was superficial and repetitive. It was just a bad "show" all the way around.
