A Modest. Proposal to the 9 -game conference/Big 10 problem:

First, the issue is the schools and net works want more SEC big games for $ reasons.
Second, SEC doeant like that B10 teams are weaker but get same or more teams in Playoff.
Third, B10 thinks theyre as strong and play 9 game conf schedule.
PROPOSAL: Both leagues play 8 game conf schedule, and have an annual 1 game interconference schedule so you keep the "big game tv
$" AND you give the conferences actual ability to impact the others playoff chances.
The tv attraction/$ would probably actually be better, and the Indianas/Penn States/Iowa/Wisconsins of the B10 can put up or shut up. Same with SEC teams.
to be clear- the 1 game does not count in your conference standings.

Re scheduling, i'd say every 2 years they take the conf w/l records of prior two years. then divide it into 1-8 and 9-16.
Our 1 plays their 8 fir next 4 yrs and vice versa. 2 v 7 3 v 6 and 4 v5.
on bottom 9 v 16 10 v 15 etc
home and home then rinse repeat after the next win total evaluation.

I like it, but we’d need to add 2 more schools since they have 18.

Nah. We should play a 5 SEC game and 5 BigX team schedule.
Then a sixteen game tourny with the top 10 from the SEC and BigX and 6 at-large bids.
First Year:
I propose BAMA playing MissSt, UK, Tenner, Barn, Carolina, Rutgers, Maryland, Wisconsin, Ucla, MichSt.
Teams selected at random.

The big ten played their cupcakes at the beginning of the year. The SEC played their cupcakes towards the end. But the Big Ten and Big XII have played 9 conference games for years. This was the right move by the SEC. More money into the conference
