A few thoughts on Ole Miss and LK

This post won’t help fuel more hate, so I apologize ahead of time for those who are let down.
Last year at this time it wasn’t a thought in anyone’s mind that LK would be departing OM. It was nice to see Ole Miss rising to be a real contender and shaking up the national stage. I know I’m a rival fan, but what was happening at Ole Miss was good for college football and it looked like hard work paying off and was truly admirable.
I sympathize with Ole Miss fans. I think when an SEC coach is successful, he shouldn’t jump ship unless fired. It’s a special thing to be admired for all of time amongst a group of people.
Instead of embracing what was being built and taking pride in the accomplishments, Lane walked away. I disagree with LK there. Oxford has a beautiful campus with a great environment and really nice downtown area. As a fan of college football, I personally think Kiffin should’ve stayed and had statues built of him and be recognized by the likes of Archie Manning.
It seems this was largely the sentiment at Ole Miss and why the transition is so splintering.
Maybe Pete Golding can keep things going and OM contends for a title this year, we’ll see.
Time will tell what kind of accomplishments LK brings to wherever he ends up. LSU would’ve been fine without Kiffin, and we’ve had a lot of success the past 20 plus years to look back on.
May the rivalry live on and cooler heads prevail.

The question for OM fan... If Golding does well... Where does he go... Clemson? Auburn? FSU? Does he stay in the South East?

No telling, will be interesting to see. He was handed the keys to a program that was having their best 5 season run in history due to Kiffin but that doesn't mean he can build/resurrect a real football team.

Dumb. Kiffin was there for six years. That’s long enough in any job to put in a reasonable amount of time to know if it’s where you want to be long term. And if it’s not, you’re wasting your time.

I don't speak much on Kiffin but I'll throw my 2 cents in here. I agree with you that it was enough time for him to make an impact and I, for one, loved his time here and appreciate him bringing us back from the dead, because we were a dead program before he got here.
It was HOW he left that angered so many people, not that he left. He should have just said, "I'm taking another job," not strung along everyone, not complained about crowds (that was complete B.S.), and not threatened assistant coaches if they didn't follow him. Then go on a public media tour of pity making us look bad and trying to trash us publicly. That wasn't cool and it was definitely an attempt at retribution for us doing the logical thing by not letting another SEC head-coach coach our team through the playoffs. That's a non-starter. It was tacky and that has people angered.
I loved him here but I am glad he is gone. I don't know if we have the right guy in place now or not. That remains to be seen.
But you folks have to quit with the claim that we are mad that he took another job. I'm sure there are some, but most of us would have been fine with him after a couple of weeks/months like we were with Tuberville if he had simply left on good terms.
