What amazes me is that this shite is institutionalized over there. If I saw actual official UA correspondence or signage referring to Auburn as "those frickin' boogs" or "the Barn" or something fresh off of TideFans circa 1998, I'd hang my head in disgrace.

Exactly. It's like all scientologist disconnecting from people who don't practice scientology because they are told to do so. That's why people who arent apart of it can see how ridiculous it is and can form an uninfluenced perspective on it.

In our defense, though, Texas University was their original name. They changed it to one-up everyone else in the state (think "THE" Ohio State University-esque blather).

Hmm... With a little historical revisionism, I'll say that the horns were actually attempting to mimic their betters with the name change. Older, wiser (and infinitely more successful in terms of their football program) institutions.

Such as the one about 800 miles away in Tuscaloosa.

I'd say they were trying to mimic Oklahoma, but those ratty, dirt farming pieces of shite are at least half-retarded; "We're the University of Oklahoma, so naturally we'll go by 'OU'!"

Couldn't they have at least gone to Rice?

Well aggies need to send out a memo and make up their mind on why they call them teasips. Further proof of different reasonings.

It was used in the Galveston and Dallas papers as far back as the 30's. It seems to stem from the class divide of the two student bodies.
The synthesis of the term with UT students and alumni not going to war is probably a little bit of storytelling.

If this were the Shag, I'd set the O/U at 37 pages saying "if Colt hadn't gotten hurt... "

I lived amongst them for 2 years after college.

They are a monumentally confused lot. Their confusion almost rubbed off on me before I escaped.

And I'd repeat the same mantra I've repeated since January, 2010: "If only Sam Bradford hadn't gotten hurt..."

The lack of self-awareness in them swishing their wrists and sashaying around, whining about Colt considering the fact that they won under the exact same circumstances against Oklahoma leaves me shocked. Shaking. Stunned.

They're not bad folks from what I've seen, which admittedly isn't much.

The little wave of OU posters we've gotten over here since they beat us in whatever bowl game that was we played them in a few years ago or so, though, has been sort of pitiful.

You'd almost think there's some actual basis for the animosity they seem to have toward 'Bama. What it is, though, I have no clue.

At least Rice has the M.O.B. which is actually cool.

It wasn't the fire, it wasn't the multipe "R"s,

It was the slight hair shake that showed me you meant business

It's the little gestures that matter at Christmas.

See, when I saw that little goblin in the gif, my mind went here. But we're getting up there in years, Tbird.
