Vols can’t hit a slider …. OU had a pitcher who can throw 100 mph and he threw sliders all game …. Going to be a long season for Tenn. OU finished 2-1 and beat Tenn some wierd way to call someone a champion lol .

Tennessee hitting was poor in 1 game after 3 games.
Rant retards: Vols can’t hit a slider. Going to be a long season for Tenn.

The Vols outscored all its opponents and scored more runs than Oklahoma. Don’t blame me, blame the people thought of this format.

I still can't believe Vitello moved Burns to the bullpen which made him transfer
How do you get rid of a talent like that

2023 Burns era as starter- 6.10
2023 Burns out of the pen- sub 1.00
Burns was the reason we made it out of super regionals. He would have 4-5 great dominant innings and then all of sudden fall apart for some reason. When Vitello moved Burns to the pen and Lindsey to the starting rotation, the Vols went on a run.
Tennessee would bring him in around the 4th inning and he would pitch the rest of the way and be over if we had lead. He pitched just as much out of the pen as the starter. Only difference is instead of being taking out in the 6th inning when he fell apart, he would be put in the game in the 3rd or 4th inning and finish it off. Burns is elite, no one is denying that. But unless he figures his starting woes out, he will be a bullpen guy in the pros.

He didn’t get rid of him. Burns transfered on his own and wasn’t pushed out at all. In fact it was Vitello and Anderson that saved his career by moving him to the bullpen. Burns was a first round pick after his freshman year if he was eligible for the draft. But once Burns got to 65-80 pitches in the game, he would fall apart. Just go look at the Notre Damn game 2 years ago in the Supers. And compare how he started the game and what his pitches looked like the last 2 innings he was in. Vitello left him in and it cost us the game when he gave up a homerun.

He has won the SEC tournament and regular seasons. So that’s not exactly true. But to bring Tennessee to its current state, compared to where it was when he took over, has been amazing. Not many people can do what he did in such a short time. He took over one to the worst baseball programs in the SEC and turned it into a national contender in short time.

The topic is baseball & surely you are aware that USCe has 2 more Natty's than Tenn. in baseball.... believe the count is 2-0 USCe

I said what I said. They are a girls basketball school.

Yes you said what you said & as usual, you look like a complete fool.... If USCe is a girls BB school, what is Tenn? A 3 month baseball school (Feb, March & April), Sept. & Oct. football school, Basketball school till March???? In reality Tenn is a girls BB school as well

That’s not the point. When Vitello knows he’s a pro, he’s even admitted as much. Plus they faded an Illinois team that has only 1 regional championship in history. And hasn’t made a regional since 2019. But let’s take a dive into this topic since you have a narrative you want to push.
2022 Burns (freshman)-
8-2, 2.91 ERA, 17 games, 80.1 IP, 1.120 WHIP, 103 K’s, 31 runs, 26 ER, 7.3 HP9
2023 Burns (sophomore)-
5-3, 4.25 ERA, 18 games, 2 saves, 72 IP, 37 runs, 34 ER, 114K’s, 1.139 WHIP, 7.5 HP9
As you can see his numbers declined and he pitched in more games than he did as a full time starter. He was given the chance to start and moving him to the pen worked and saved his career. Keeping him as the starter last year wouldn’t have got us to Omaha.
Now let’s look at his replacement
2023 AJ Russell Freshman-
2-0, .89 era, 30 IP, 47 K’s, .527 WHIP, HP9, 2.7, 13.9 K’s per 9,
2024 AJ Russell Sophomore-
0-0, 4.15 era, 2 ER, 10K’s, .923 WHIP, 6.2 HP9, 20.8 K’s per 9. After 1 start
We are happy with AJ Russell and he’s a year younger than Burns. We wish Burns the best, but with him as starter last year, we don’t go to Omaha, that’s just facts

Well all I know is we have beat the hell out of LSU more times than not in most sports last few years. So take it for what it’s worth.

I seem to recall USCe winning two national championships in baseball. How many does UT have?

Y'all should print some cups & shirts.... We beat LSU a few times in the last few years & LSU has a FB, Baseball & WBB Natty in the last 5 years & Tenn. has ZERO Natty's in that time.... Tennesux, regular season thoroughbreds

Vs SEC:
32 IP 7.88ERA 28ER 39H 10HR 53K 11BB 2-3Record
Vs teams like Illinois:
24IP 1.87ERA 5ER 13H 0HR 39K 6BB 3-1Record
Burns wanted to get away from the SEC more than he wanted ti start. He got both with Wake Forest. He will be a backend bullpen guy in the pros.
