2020 SEC Football Season: Best Scheduling Scenario

For both players and fans. I think the SEC (and the rest of college football) should just scrap the non-conference as well as any neutral site games. Make the SEC schedule a 7 game schedule. Each SEC team plays the other 6 teams in their division and their cross division rivals. The SEC East-West rotation is delayed by one year and this year would essentially be a standalone year.

Season could start on September 19th though some schools would start as late as October 3rd (such as LSU and Alabama) and be over by November 14th. This would achieve the following:
1) Players get 2 more weeks of conditioning and practice time (since Spring Football was canceled).
2) Allows SEC to have the SEC Championship on November 21st allowing the regular season to be over before Thanksgiving (in alignment with most schools not having students report back after Thanksgiving).
3) Allows SEC to crown an SEC Champion even if there is no CFP and allows SEC season to be over before peak flu season hits.
4) Maintains the core SEC schedule and most major rivalries.
5) Allows the season to be played in better weather (we know the first few weeks are absolutely brutal and the majority of the season would be played in the best weather in October).

Here's the SEC West Schedule (please note I didn't bother with notating home or away):

LSU
10/3 - Arkansas
10/10 - Florida
10/17 - Texas A&M
10/24 - Miss State
10/31 - Ole Miss

I really think this type of scenario would be the best chance of us having an SEC Football season this year.

This is a legit post. Upvoted.

*ETA* You're bound to upset someone, but this is something that I think will be a very likely scenario.

No Alabama for UGA? I'll take it since it helps our chance to win the East again

Yep any other inter division games had to be scraped. But I would just push everything back a year. So Bama-UGA would play in Tuscaloosa in 2021.

Works for me. UF will be rebuilding in 2021.

It'll be interesting to see what the NCAA does regarding eligibility. I'm guessing they would have to extend eligibility for all fall athletes. Again essentially a freeze. If you're a senior this year you'll still be considered a senior in 2021. Now whether or not those athletes come back for another year would be another story.

I would take it a step further
Sec west only schedule with one home and home
Sec East only schedule

For example
LSU would play

Ole Miss
Miss St
Bama
Auburn
Ark
A&M
@a&m

Bama and auburn would play two iron bowls
Ole miss and state would play two egg bowls

This won't work due to conference reshuffling starting in 2025-2026 for all P5.

Now you have 3 teams to pair up with 2H/1A somehow.
