Dude defined punter as a weapon that year. How he didn't win the Groza, I'll never know.

Never forget how vicious they were in their attacks on CEO, Clue-Les himself took some time off from collecting his undeserved millions from LSU to take a little bitch cheap shot at O LINK

Troy ended up 11-2 that year. The only losses coming to Boise State in the opener at Boise, and a midweek loss to South Alabama after beating LSU. Big letdown game, but it was the only one I made it to that year, and told my dad we were expecting baby #3 at our pregame tailgate. Everyone, including us, thought we were done. We were hanging out at a friend's tailgate, and he and his wife had just had their second. My dad was talking to the guy's mom about how exciting new grandkids were, and said something to the effect of all my kids are done having them. I just grinned really big and said, well, that's not true. It was also my first time buying beer in the stadium since they allowed it. Other than the outcome of the game, it was a fun evening.

Which Troy team do you think was the best 2004, 2008 or 2017? I thought 2004 was actually the best we faced with DeMarcus Ware and iirc y'all beat Okie State and Mizzou that year

2004 was when we were still more defense oriented. A short time after that they hired Tony Franklin to be the OC. And then Neal Brown was promoted to OC. Both somehow were wooed away by Tommy Tuberville. Franklin to Auburn then Brown to Texas Tech. That 2004-2008 period was fun. My wife and I had recently graduated and had season tickets. The Mizzou win was in 2004. I think OK state was a year or two later. 2017 was probably the best on paper as far as the final record and combined offense and defense. There were a ton of shootouts in the years prior to that.

goes to show you how far Auburn went in the year. they went from giving up 11 sacks to almost making the playoffs and beating two #1 teams during the regular season. That is amazing

Thats why we call him 4 Game Gus. It takes him 4 games to figure out his team every year after he waste preseason camp.

2004 Missouri game. Man what a night. Helped tear down the goalposts and then preceded to carry them to The Front Porch. Then hooked with some chick on the rodeo team. One of the funnest nights of my life.

I was fresh out of grad school. My wife had gone down for some sorority stuff with a friend of hers. I somehow lucked into working in Montgomery that week and brought a Mississippi State grad to the game with me. We stopped for beers and he was shocked we could carry them into the stadium. Watched the game in the student section and drove back to the gump to our hotel after.

and Still lost and then went to lose 28-7 and to UCF

Georgia didn’t beat Auburn we outmanned Georgia missing our top 5 players for 2.5 quarters before we broke. NFL Corner, SS and DE all out. NFL RB out. NFL Receiver out. NFL QB hurt. 2017 Georgia isn’t man enough to beat 2017 Auburn. Alabama isn’t either.

I will say this - it was the single most competitive playoffs since they began. The largest margin of victory was 17 points, and it had not one but two OT games.

Wrong.

Gus beat him to hamburger stomping your asses and then Bama's arse 2 weeks later. Poor depth handed you figs your gifted title... and you know it. Your welcome.

He played, and he ran hard, but he had nowhere to go with the ball because our D dominated your blockers.
