No way Florida even keeps that game close. I think UF will go 8-4 with loses to UM, LSU, UGA, and FSU

Michigan loses more than we do-- If Florida can't win the opener or at the very least have it in doubt until the final minutes Mac has failed horribly as a coach.

Michigan is losing like 17 starters. I don't expect to win but if we can't keep it close, we should quit football.

Based on what UF has coming back, I fully expect UF to win that game.

There are no excuses.

I think Mac plays the "inexperienced QB" card next year if Franks or Trask struggles- the pumpers will argue we have to keep Nuss for a 4th season as well because "you can't change OCs on a young QB that's what happened to Driskel"

Honestly, there's no freaking excuse for not having a Top 50 offense next season- Mac repeatedly refuses to adjust his system to the talent on hand (this despite the system not being anything special)-- watch you'll hear a lot more of the stupid "we had WRs open" coupled with "our QB just needs more reps" (conveniently ignoring that the QBs not having any reps was Mac's decision in the first place).

Slightly OT but: The "WRs open" canard is b.s. a lot of the time-- of course we have a WR or two even open on a lot of routes- we run 4 and 5 target routes, a lot of the "gimmick" or "QB friendly" systems some of Mac's supporters tend to mock only run 1 or 2 read pass plays- which make them easier to pick up-- you don't get extra points for raising the degree of difficulty and asking your QB to make more complex reads so why do so?

Someone please explain the benefit, in college, of running Mac's system over a less complex system that produces dramatically better results on a consistent basis.

Don't think I've ever seen any other team that resembled the past 2 Mac have fielded. Mizzou got a hard time the last time they won the East but damn at least one of their teams was pretty good. Both of Mac's UF teams have been mediocre to bad by the time the latter half of the season rolls around and really bad in the SECCGs.

BUT it's like Mac has a golden horseshoe wedged up his arse. In that these pedestrian teams keep getting the breaks and finding themselves in the SECCG regardless of the perennial 2nd half of the year implosion UF goes through.

IOW, frick if I know how to predict UF under Mac. The circumstances of the past two years have been more than a bit ridiculous but still gotten UF to Atlanta. I just don't remember seeing anything similar to it ever.

To the rest of the rant: Mac has essentially divided the Florida fanbase, how do the rest of you guys view him?

If he takes this 2017 schedule and goes say 8-4 or 9-3 with another #15-20 recruiting class a significantly improved but still struggling offense (say in the 80s-- a major jump but still horrible) and a defense in the Top 50- would he deserve an extension?

By this time next year if Mac has a 7-5 record or worse with a recruiting class outside the top 10 he'd deserve to be fired. 8-4 will probably buy him another year but that offense better be rolling with the obvious drop off we're going to have on defense. Gator fans are tired having their eyes bleed every time a gator offense has taken the field the last 6 years.

A Bama fan posted this. I agree 8-4.

Honestly (no UF hate in this post only) Mac absolutely needs to recruit better. I'm not saying he's a bad coach but I sincerely believe it'll be his downfall if he can't turn it around.

I'm dumbfounded by what he's been able to do without a QB for 2 years now- but that's not gonna be substainable long-term

Just my honest opinion. TIFWIW

The only team I don't think UF can beat next year on the schedule is FSU.

UF has LSU in Gainesville and based on what LSU loses, I don't think LSU is going to be some unbeatable team next year.

Michigan loses a shite load of starters.

UGA after FSU is the 2nd toughest game on the schedule based on what they return.

What do you think about Mac's recruiting?

I'm withholding judgment until I see this class.

Mac's recruiting offensively has paid huge dividends. Every playmaker on offense (Cleveland, Callaway, Scarlett, Lewis) is a McElwain recruit.

He pulled in Cece two years ago, which was a huge get.

The last class was critical based on need.

This class has to address DT, CB, and OL most of all.

I'm not so upset about the class ranking, as I am about the talent that he is missing in the state of Florida.

I don't know much about Kentucky next year, but I'll say Florida wins that because they beat them basically every year.

Man, the East is bad. I'll say they split road games against Mizzou/South Carolina, just because it's back-to-back weeks.

2 losses OOC to Michigan and FSU. Split LSU/Texas A&M.

8-4? 6-2 in conference with wins over UT and UGA would almost definitely win the East again, though.

I really don't know why everyone expects LSU to win in the Swamp next year.

Same with A&M.

And Michigan is losing 17 starters.

FSU is the only team on UF's schedule next year that has significantly more talent at every position.

CMR being at Miami won't help UF in-state recruiting I'd imagine. Especially in So. Fla., Richt always recruited that area well even at UGA.

There are a lot of good programs in FL compared to GA. Can't be easy recruiting there.

LSU keeps a lot of important pieces on offense. Still will be very talented on defense.

I don't think Florida is going to be some kind of great team. I view that game as a tossup. Florida is more likely to beat A&M. However, doing my math, Florida is more likely to lose one of those games than to win both of them.
