Bama has a better running duo and better defense.. try again. Auburn gave up 102 more points than we did this past year.

I have an analytical mind and am very intelligent.....I have a tendency to use a lot of words if I'm talking to people I believe will have a hard time understanding certain concepts. It's called "unpacking" a thought or "breaking it down."

how bout the 2 loss joke championship you afterthoughts got?

I consider the 07 LSU team to be the weakest BCS era champion, FWIW.

First tier is easily 01 Miami, 04 USC, and 05 Texas.

Second tier:

Florida State 99, Ohio State 02, LSU 03, Florida 08

Third tier:

OU 2000, Tennessee 1998, Alabama 2009, LSU 2007, Florida 2006

This is obviously my opinion and this is open for debate. I'm quite positive ya'll will disagree.

However, to put this Bama team up there with the best of the BCS era (Miami 01, USC 04, Texas 05) seems wrong. They lacked talent at QB. They had close games with mediocre teams (Tenn, Auburn, LSU). Then there was the championship fiasco, where your team didn't leave a very strong impression.

You guys needed "help"

Ask LSU fans about the help that 2004 Auburn received to win that game by A POINT.

You played one decent SEC team this year, Florida. We had to play a solid Tennessee team (#9 the first time we played them) twice and beat them twice. We also played a very tough and highly ranked defending national champion LSU. They were coached by a guy I am told is awesome.

We also played, as we always do, our two biggest rivals back to back and UGA was good that year(top ten when we beat them). We named our score against everybody except for LSU and if Tubs hadn't gone into the dreaded Tubershell, we would have won the whole thing in'04......

But again, it's tough to compare eras.....the teams all played different competition so it's tough to analyze with any degree of accuracy. We're all just throwing out our opinions.

But I have a hard time thinking that a team that needed last minute heroics to beat TN and Auburn this year is a great team.......those results are too incongruous with greatness....

Neither of which won jack squat on a national level

Who gives a shite. In Auburn's case, it was based purely on circumstances.

In 2001, 2004 and 2009, four SEC teams finished in the top 25 and two finished in the top 10 each year.

Typical myopic gump delusion. The 2009 Alabama team will be remembered as the undefeated champion in what was, overall, a down year for college football. No one except Bama fans are trying to label this team as one of the best ever. However, I doubt it surprises anyone that some of the "myopic nation" would come up with this newest delusion. In the past few weeks we've been treated to threads where Bama fan thinks:

-- every SEC team intentionally schedules a bye week before playing Bama -- out of fear

-- the SEC championship between Bama and Fla had more on-field talent than any game in CFB history

-- Urban Meyer lied about leaving Fla for health reasons; he was really just scared of playing Bama

-- the Tex-Bama BCS NC was the most hyped, anticipated game ever

You shoulda used that analytical mind to see that Au gave up 266 points in 2004, and Bama gave up 164 points. Then used that intelligence to understand that Bama's Defense is greater. Instead, it now appears that you are more of an anal mind.

So we're going to use stats like this when the competition was completely different? Really?

Well, in 1914 we didn't give up a point therefore it's the greatest defense in college history.
