You can't honestly believe that.

Deflection.
One last time then I am done with this topic.
OSU - 3rd in the country in ppg in 2012, 7th in passing ypg ( w 3 diff qbs) and they bring 7 starters back.
State - Lost all of your secondary and several other key contributors.

Our defense will be better this year. Wilson is gone. I know you won't agree. Just letting you know. First game though against that offense is gonna suck. It's gonna be a shootout. People just don't realize how much Wilson being gone will help us. We should have been much better on D last year. Too many mix ups and terrible schemes. Secondary will take a step back, but LB and DL will be much improved.

Ok State's D Sucks arse.

We did not lose all of our secondary.
Also will show significant improvement at LB and DL, do you not agree that could do nothing but help the secondary?

And they run a great system that the players have finally got a rhythm under. Not to mention each of those guys has a lot of mobility and Miss State... does not really have the horses to stop a mobile QB that can throw.

JW Walsh has mobility, Chief, not so much.

Perhaps but my point is that..

State's D could def be better this year now that Wilson is gone. My whole point is them having to face that attack right out of the gate with some inexperience in the secondary and a new DC could be a very tough proposition.

Ok State D from last year gave up 400 yards or more in 7 games and 500 yards or more in 3 games.
They sound pretty stout.

Returning 3 of 5 starters in nickel -- which we will play the whole time against Ok State anyway -- equals "lost all of our secondary"

OSU can and will score points. Their issues are with the defense. They were 80th in the nation last year in defense, and they lost several key players on that side of the ball. I don't think they could shut down a Woody McCorvey offense.

They gave up 40+ points in all 5 games they lost. They also struggled away from Home going 1-5 away from Stillwater.
The only win was a 20-14 nailbiter vs a Kansas team who was 0-9 in the Big 12 last year.

Better go tell that to Cam Newton -- he sure didn't realize it the last time our defensive scheme and speed was as good as it will be this year.

Nah I gotta go to a graduation. I would love to have a beer out there with the legend but not this year.

Why? We know what OK State is bringing to the table offensively. Got all the film in the world to prepare for it. In contrast, they don't have a damn clue what we are bringing defensively -- and have zero film to look at to prepare for it.
Does that mean we are going to shut them down? Certainly not. But it's not going to be the slaughter that many here are projecting.

From a thread I once started elsewhere...
Broken down to BCS opponents.
2012 OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS SCHEDULE
L59-38 vs Arizona -- #104(35.3ppg) -- 2.7 over
L41-36 vs Texas -- #72(29.2ppg) -- 6.8 over
W20-14 vs Kansas -- #112(36.1ppg) -- 22.1 under
W31-10 vs Iowa St -- #38(23.9ppg) -- 7.1 over
W36-14 vs TCU -- #30(22.6ppg) -- 13.2 over
L44-30 vs Kansas St -- #28(22.2ppg) -- 7.8 over
W55-34 vs West Va -- #117(38.1ppg) -- 16.9 over
W59-21 vs Texas Tech -- #91(31.8ppg) -- 27.2 over
L51-48 OT vs Oklahoma -- #50(25.5ppg) -- 22.5 over
L41-34 vs Baylor -- #113(37.2ppg) -- 3.2 under
W58-14 vs Purdue -- #87(31.2ppg) -- 26.8 over
They scored, on average, 9.61ppg more than the teams they played allowed on average.
In the past 3 years, we've allowed:
2012: 23.3ppg
2011: 19.7ppg
2010: 19.6ppg
Based on this, their scoring "expectation" against us should be approximately 33 points IF we didn't improve defensively at all from last year and their offense didn't get worse.
