Good year all around in and out of SEC. The Peyton Manning led UT and Calipari's Kentucky both ringing. Ricky winning the Heisman. Razorbacks' Pippen leading Chicago to their 8th straight title.

In 1998, Georgia State University President Carl V. Patton inquired into the possibility of starting a football program. Twelve years later, The Georgia State Panthers played their first ever football game. Nine years after that, GSU beat an SEC team.
