I guess I missed those posts. The only things I've ever seen him catch flack for was the jetgate debacle, applying for 43 other jobs while at Louisville, and the midnight train out of Georgia

You are Tennessee, you will be fine. DD is a solid coach. The key is recruiting.

Thanks - I think he seems like a good guy but this is Shula deja vu for me.
The reason I ask about UGA - does it worry UT fans that if Dooley does well and Richt tanks that y'all could be back in this same boat in a few years?

Shula did Bama a favor by taking that job when he did. Remember, you had to break salary records for college football to get Saban, turns out that was a good investment.

shula even had a better resume

Oh, I agree - you will never see me say a bad word about Mike Shula.
He was a good man, in over his head, but he came in and stopped the bleeding, brought some stability, and kept Alabama from falling completely down the drain.
I see parallels with Dooley to UT is all I'm saying.
Even down to the famous last name and son of a legend.
And they are both pretty cute, too.

I see. It is kinda ironic that all three, Dooley, Shula and Kiffen are all the sons of good coaches.
It just goes to show that nepotism is alive and well in collage football. Specially in the case of Kiffen. My wife could coach USC and win with the assistants he has lucked into.

Total wikipediage:
Dooley was hired by Nick Saban at LSU as the Tigers’ recruiting coordinator/tight ends coach, a capacity in which he served until 2002. Dooley then spent the 2003-04 seasons coaching the Tigers’ running backs and special teams. In 2005, Dooley left LSU with Saban when he became head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

17-20 in three seasons
Nice resume
