FWIW which could be nothing, legal contact says it is a done deal and 3.2M is the number.
That would be great, and really cheap - compared to other numbers being floated around.

Hope you're right, but $3.2M aint getting this to "done deal" point. Also, I heard last week that talks with his agent had already landed at 6 years for $25M.
If $3.2M is the number then that is salary only and there are appearance fees, endorsements, and layup bonuses (no pun intended) that will make it closer to $4M before he ever coaches a tourney game.

Interesting from shockernet...

The offer from Bama is 4.2M for 6 years. Gregg has till Friday to decide. Word is Lynn and kids don't want to go. Gregg is looking at it as one more move before he retires, so it better be the right financial package. He doesn't want to coach forever. The cons for going to Bama are no real fan commitment to basketball; crap team next year; 2-3 year rebuilding plan; SEC is the SEC, cheating is almost an excepted practice...Bama fans probably alright with it if it yields results. WSU can probably get to 2.1 or 2.2M base, with incentives bringing it to 2.5+. The only reason he leaves is for the money. How much do you really need Gregg? Don't be a gun for hire. Be our coach where you are loved and respected. You have a great and predictable gig here. Don't screw up happy

That matches the first numbers that I heard a couple of days ago. Shite, I hope this doesn't take until Friday. The key is to get the wife and kids on a plane and get their asses to Tuscaloosa. It's real easy to bad mouth a place when all you have is media perception and perspective on it. Come see it for yourself. If you still hate it, don't come, no hard feelings. But don't say no because you've "heard" what Tuscaloosa and Alabama are like.

A lot here reminiscent of WVA fans' reactions to the Rich Rodriguez flirtation.

Listen to Lynn and the kids, Gregg.
You can do a whole lot better than Tuscaloosa, Al.

Yeah, and RichRod listened to Rita and the WVA fans, and what did it get him? In one year went from being the most loved person in the state to the most hated and a lawsuit against WVA...all to take a job that he was an absolutely horrible fit for and got fired from...in spite of the fact that it was one of the best programs in the country.
A big difference here, thankfully, is that Bama offered Rodriguez no more than what WVA could match. That isn't happening here.

Yeah, Baton Rouge is a veritable paradise compared to Tuscaloosa.

3.2 does seem awfully low.

The WSU people have heard $4.25M per, which is about in line with your 6 for $25M.

I'm not sure they're not just regurgitating our information.

Could be.
I have to think, whatever the number, silence at this point is not a bad thing for Bama. If it were a "no" you'd already hear about them moving on to their next candidate. GM has had the offer now for going on 24 hours. He must be giving it some consideration, which is all you could hope for right off the bat. Not getting rejected outright by GM is more than a lot of other schools have gotten from him.

I just heard Battle contacted Richard Pitino from the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
WTF?
Hope it's a fallback.
