Seriously, Cantina Laredo on the Branson Landing next to the Water and Fire fountain show. Expect a 1 to 1.5 hour wait if you arrive after 5:00 PM.

For breakfast, nothing beats Billy Gails. You should expect an hour wait for Billy Gails if you arrive there after 9:00 AM.

googled that place and came across a pretty good write up on it LINK

So, what about that "best breakfast" in 417? From personal experience I can attest to that claim and add old-fashioned and fresh. Billy Gail's is famous for their pancakes which literally fall over the plate. Below is a photo of my breakfast and that pancake is the small one! Light and tasty, much like a crepe, the pancake is really yummy with warm maple syrup all over it! I actually rolled my scrambled eggs in the pancake like a burrito --- then poured on the warm syrup! Oh, and the blueberry pancakes are amazing, loaded with fresh blueberries! You must try their new "French Cakes" which were created one morning when Billy couldn't decide on French toast or pancakes. So the cook came up with my new favorite, the French Cake. I'm not going to reveal the secret --- but try it, you'll like it!

would not be surprised if I try both places

Hawg,

I'm not joking with you. My wife and I have a condo on Table Rock Lake not far from Latarian's parents' house. We're down in Branson at least once a month.

I'm trying to truly steer you in the best direction. Cantina Laredo is sort of a high class mexican place. Kind of pricey, but it's location is superb. If you haven't been to the Branson Landing, then you're in for a treat. It's not like the old Branson strip. It's a mile long district of bars, night clubs, high end shopping, and restaurants located on the shore of Lake Taneycomo.

Cantina Laredo sits on the square where a multi-million dollar fire and water show occurs every hour on the hour. If the temperature is nice, I highly suggest that you sit outside. The view is awesome and you'll have the perfect seat for the fire and water show.

Billy Gails is located on Hwy 265 between Silver Dollar City and the Chateau on the Lake. Very scenic road. Off the beaten path. Billy Gails is by far my favorite restaurant in the entire area.

If you go to Billy Gails, I suggest you order "The Camp". This is a breakfast plate that used to be on the secret menu but recently made its way to the main menu. "The Camp" is essentially an incredible hash that includes hashbrowns, eggs, red and green peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese, sausage...all mixed and cooked together.

Gail's now deceased husband, Billy, used to go camping with fishing buddies and they would throw all of those ingredients into a cast iron skillet and cook it over the fire. They called it "The Camp".

Whenever his buddies would eat breakfast at the restaurant, they would request the kitchen to make them "The Camp".

One day I walked in and saw all these old men eating a spectacular looking breakfast! I walked over to their table and said, "Billy, that looks incredible! What is it?"

He said, "It's the camp...but it's not on the menu."

I essentially begged him to allow the cooks to make me the plate. They did because I am a regular there. Since then, that is the only thing I've ordered. Eventually, other people caught on and Gail included it on the menu.

"The Camp" is my favorite meal in the entire Branson area. IMO...nothing beats it!

I truly hope you eat at these two places.

yea just remembered we have one in little rock. Heard good things abut it, only haven't eaten there yet. Will definitely try to go to the one in branson.

yea I've been to branson/silver dollar city numerous times. so I'm certainly familiar with the area. used to go at least once in the summer and once during the holidays when I was younger. quit going for awhile, but now my parents have been giving me, my brother, and sister season passes to silver dollar city for valentines day the past 3 or 4 years. been going up there to see the lights during christmas ever since.

will certainly do this

For as long as I've been going to branson/silver dollar city I've only ever just ate at whatever looked good on the main strip. last year was the first year I tried something different by using the urbanspoon phone app to find highly recommended places and it worked out pretty good. decided this year to see what people on here might suggest.

after a google search of other threads posted about this I came across this thread LINK that recommended trying the The College of the Ozarks who apparently have a really good restaurant run by culinary students

Don't miss out on the Sunday brunch @ Big Cedar either.

Most of the tourist trap restaurants around the strip are horrendous, but there's some decent ones like Landry's, or downtown there's a homestyle one called the Farmhouse which isn't too shabby.

Completely stay away from the strip. No need to go there. Do the Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City, Billy Gails, and if you stillhave time, book your room at Big Cedar
Lodge.

Big Cedar is without a doubt the best resort in the entire Midwest.

Hope you have fun.

high end shopping

Don't get me wrong...I've enjoyed the Landing, but if it was high end shopping, it would be anchored by Neiman Marcus and Nordstroms, not Belk's and Bass Pro.

Back to your multi-family dwelling Wastelander!

For a place that staked it's name on outlet discount shopping malls, the Landing is a golden pussy hair paved mecca of prosperity and hipness. I rarely buy anything there other than booze at Waxy's. I also miss the Cirque show, was a great date night.

Given the people that go there... I'm going to guess you can find a Luby's or two.

Dunno

Family has timeshare that's with Cedar Lodge, but on the private end of it so we spend a little time up there, or just a weekend.

the best restaurant in the Branson area is Papouli's in Reeds Spring. Yes, that's not a typo. It's a little Greek joint that's been around for almost 20 years and people regularly drive from Springfield to eat there. Has a very small but loyal clientele that keep it in business.
