Follow the ACC lead when Tom Ritter crew fails to know the rulebook.

Nothing will happen. Rule can be interpreted that it wasn't a fumble.

It is what it is. I really doubt they admit any possible screw up, and it really doesn't matter now.

They didn't screw up that facemask call.

It has to be a fumble, there was already a forward pass.

According to the espn cfb officiating expert, a backwards pass is a live ball but not a fumble, regardless of whether it hits the ground or not. Therefore the 4th down fumble rules didn't apply..

According to him.

So per this it states that incomplete lateral passes are ruled as fumbles...

The same expert said that is for statistical purposes only and not for actual rule governance. Whatever the hell that means.

So someone can get charged with a fumble and the play not be ruled as a fumble? That sounds stupid as shite

Just guessing what ya'll are exactly talking about. But is it that you can't advance a fumble on 4th down?

My understand of the rule is that as long as the ball is fumbling BEHIND the fumbling player that it CAN be advanced.

It shouldn't matter what the call is. We gave up 53 points to Arkansas. Yes 53 points to Arkansas. We should of rushed like we been rushing the whole game. If they got 25 so be it. When they lateral the ball back we had one defender back there. Then the face mask play happened.

I can accept the loss, but I think the rule should be change. You shouldn't be allowed to put the ball in the air or on the ground once it's gone beyond the line of scrimmage. The whole "just chunk the ball backwards and see what happens" thing is, to me, stupid.

Of course, had it either not worked, or Ole Miss had done it, I'm quite sure I'd feel differently.

Should have never gotten to that point in the first place.
