I've been cautiously optimistic about him coming back healthy and better than he was last year. Maybe not quite as many explosive plays, but much better decision making.

Listening to an interview with Bro and Parish has me a bit wooly about his recovery.

We received a waiver to allow Werner to "watch Bo's mechanics" since he is recovering. To me this is a HUGE advantage as I would think they are talking about more than mechanics. He has come out and said how much better his mechanics are compared to last year and how he thinks all the mental reps he took in the spring will slow the game down for him. He's throwing up 45 yards now in his rehab will zero pain and will begin 7 on 7 drills with the team after the 4th.

He played fairly well with a torn shoulder last season so you have to assume that he will only be improved this season, but how rusty will he be? It's getting closer guys. About 70 more days...

I think physically he will be fine. What has me worried is decision making. He hasn't thrown against a defense since the Compass bowl, so I don't know how much improved his decision making will be.

I think a lot of his picks were trying to force stuff when he got out of the pocket. I'm hoping that was because the speed of the defense was a lot faster than what he was used to in JuCo. I hope all the film he has watched should help him.

Question WIO:

If he played more than half of last with a severely separated shoulder and had those explosive play would it not be safe to say that Bro with a 90%-100% healthy shoulder has even more opportunity to have more explosive plays?

If he IS HEALTHY and HAS IMPROVED MENTALLY we should expect to see a lot of improvement in him. His understanding of the system and SEC play will be greater and his arm strength will be back to normal ... so that some of the balls last year that resulted in incompletions and interceptions might be able to completions & yards gained because he now actually has the ability to get the ball to where it needs to be because he isn't playing with an injured shoulder anymore.

We should see good things from Bro this year.

Don't forget the severely separated shoulder he had on his throwing arm that might affects these things too ...

This.

There was a game last year, I wanna say UGA where he had Mosley running down the middle of the field and if he had more arm he had beaten the secondary. He just obviously didn't have the arm, ended up being a pick.

There were a couple throws in the Vandy game that had nothing to do with decision making. He just didn't have the arm to get the ball to the WR.

My hope is that our running game keeps us on schedule(3 to 4 yards on 1st down) and we can throw underneath passes to all these great WR's. Then stick em every once in a while with a shot downfield.

Same thing happened in the state game. ball came up 20 yards short and thats when i realized how bad is shoulder was.

Also, not ALL of his int were his fault. I know Moncrief caused one against LSU when it him in the hands and popped out. There were a few others like that

We are going to do that all day long. Treadwell and Moncrief on opposite sides are going to make it tough stopping those bubble screens

Oh I agree. I was just trying to be a little more objective and assuming everything doesn't go perfectly

If he throws single digit interceptions we are going to win a lot of games. I expect his decision making to be vastly improved. Basically the complete opposite of what Nutt did to Jevan Snead.

Depends.... I am worried about the offensive line. Lossing AJ was huge I just hope Duke can handle the role before Tunsil will be ready to take over. If they can stay healthy and Protect Bo. I have absolutely no doubt that Bo will have a fantastic season. Merica

Oh well then ... Carry On

I'm just being the biased homer right now that thinks all is going to end well for us and we can do nothing wrong ...

Before my pessimist, chicken little, WAOM personality takes over the week before the season starts

Oh I know. A lot of his picks were throwing back over the middle late. You can't do that at any level even if you have a rocket for an arm.

Yeah this is what we hope he learns from ... he definitely had time to take mental reps, which might actually end up working out for us in the end.

Ole Miss Utep highlights

That first play where Bo rolls out and hits Moncrief on the that touchdown pass was something at the end of the year Bo could not have done. Anything passed 25 yards look like a punt with a lot of hang time. The Georgia,LSU,State, and Pitt games all had throws where you could see the lack of arm strength.
