TA, invest in a good watch especially in your line of work, the old saying is to "be the part you got to look the part". I personally have a Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon as my everyday watch. I get numerous compliments on it and I could run it over and it will still work. If a used Ball is too much try looking at a Tissot. They are in my opinion the best bang for the buck (great mechanism, sapphire crystal etc...).

I like a Tissot a lot, but it is close to $400, which is a bit much right now.

Abears and olemiss59**... Tell me if I'm an idiot or not, because I'm pretty sure my peds instructor is a fricking moron
Going over Diabetes today in children... She says that when children get into sports and whatnot, they need more glucose so you encourage them to eat more, but do not give them any more insulin
So I raise my hand like ummmmm, wouldn't that almost defeat the purpose... Sure they'll have more potential glucose, but without more insulin supplementation, the glucose has no way of getting into the cell, it's just running free through the vascular system
She tells me I'm wrong and I should look at the book... I ask why and if she can explain it and she just says I'm wrong... So, like I said, am I an idiot or is she

I have quite a few watches but I lack a casual watch like what you're talking about. I would like to find one as well.
I have already sunk quite a bit of money because I really like watches in general but I haven't bought one in a while because my next purchase will be a tag.

MVMT has some pretty cool watches. Might not be as "casual" as you'd like but the price is good and they have unique designs.
I like this one. It's only $135:

I would think that making a blanket statement is not right in regards to diabetes. There are so many factors that play into it (ie. What type, what sport etc....). Here is a fairly reliable journal on the subject of adolescent athletes with diabetes:

Which Tag you looking at DD? I have a Carrera Twin Time and an old Link but may move up to a Carrera Grand Calibra or a Monaco Chrono Automatic if I don't find a Panera Black Seal.
Edit: sorry ahead of time if I misspelled the names.

The older Tag Professionals/Aquaracers (circa early 2000's) made good every day watches. I had a 2003 model that I wore everyday that was stolen and I replaced it with a 2009 model that was a little flashier (steel was not brushed).
The current models are a little too flashy (in my opinion) for everyday wear... so I look on Ebay occasionally for my original model to pop up, or one of the same era with a different colored face: WK1111.BA0317.

Citizen's benefit is that it is an Eco-Drive. You won't have to get a battery every year and a half or so. That is a deal on that watch for $75.
If you like the nylon strap style, check out Bertucci and Swiss Army.

The first one that I fell in love with is the Monoco LS
Now I can't decide. It definitely wouldn't be for a daily wear, and I'm starting to lean away from one with a leather band (although I tend to buy mostly leather bands). Most likely a Carrera 1887. I like Chrono watches the most. Actually I'm not sure that I have one that isn't in some form or fashion.
I have a Citizen Eco-Drive that I love and whoever said that definitely has a point about the battery. It's just so damn convenient.
This is my daily wear:

Whistlin,
We haven't got into diabetes that in depth yet, but we did scratch the surface of it a few weeks ago. i know that your body will release glucose into the blood if it senses low blood sugar when the muscles are working hard so maybe that is a factor in giving glucose. Diabetes is a beast with a ton of factors involved

The one disease that would devastate me the most would be diabetes. I love good food and would eventually eat myself into a diabetic coma....when you start into all the issues that arise from it (ED, PVD, neuropathy etc...) I think I would rather just suck on the barrel of my USP and place a hollow point through my brain stem.

I totally agree. My love for food is too great for me to control it at the level that is needed with diabetes

That LS is a sharp looking watch. I really like the Monaco 24 Calibra 36 but they don't sell them in the U.S. for some reason (may be a good excuse to go visit my lil'sister in Europe) and I am not to keen on buying something that pricey sight unseen off the internet.
Believe it or not I was in an Outlet Mall today with my wife just outside Chicago and was shocked to see they had a Tag Heuer Outlet. I walked in while she was in another store just to see if they had good prices. They had the Grand Carrera Calibra 36 on sale for 50% off....needless to say I was tempted but I know my wife would have skinned me alive....still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger.

I know a lot of people that do it, but I'm with you. Not me. I won't normally buy anything that's even 100 dollars off the internet. I like to see and touch pretty much everything before I purchase.

I really like your daily. Is that an echo? I can't read the face.

Emporio Armani AR-0398
Wow. It's actually on sale right now for about 50% off.
I've had it for over two years now though, so I guess that's to be expected.

I've been looking at an Omega Seamaster for the past 6 months. I just don't think I'd wear it enough to justify the price. Mainly because I don't wear the watch I have now.
