Justin bell can return punts for all I care as long as Pack is nowhere near the ball on returns.
I heard Korvic Neat has 1 more year of eligibility.

Yeah but I don't think you chance him unless you are very confident in Wilkins and Judd. Same with Bridges. I think it'll be Davis or Julius.

If Ward could catch he would probably murder anyone inbetween him and the endzone if he got to full speed
Posted on 4/21/15 at 3:27 pm to umrebel2009
With that kind of thinking why don't we just use Rob back there? He can just grab it and murder everyone on his way too.

Any way anyone can find a statistic on how many punts we muffed in the Freeze era? With Pack and Neat returning kicks, I bet the number is in excess of 8.

Ward just never seems to play much besides special teams, but couldn't risk rob on ST obviously.
Obviously neither would return punts, but I would like to see Ward return a punt and run over people in a non-con against a little school. It'd be entertaining.

Yeah Bridges or Walton would have to be Devin Hester good to risk getting them hurt. Having said that I think we have plenty of guys who will work out fine.

He needs to red shirt if he wants to get drafted.

Pretty sure we had that problem during the Nutt era as well.

Anyone have any realistic expectations for our running game this fall?
2014: 155.4 yards per game, 4.3 YPC, 21 TDs
2013: 190.0 yards per game, 4.7 YPC, 22 TDs
2012: 174.0 yards per game, 4.1 YPC, 25 TDs
My god if we can get to 190 yards per game again this fall . . .

I'm thinking about 200 ypg. I think we'll run the ball more this year than before, especially the first few games breaking in a new QB.

If we can get 200+ rushing yards per game, and a 60% completion percentage with 15+ TDs and less than 8 INTs from the Fratcannon or Swag, watch out.
Hell, we have two of the best play action weapons in college football.

Imagine a running game where the offensive linemen knew it was a run play ahead of time and could aggressively block down field.
Too often our offensive line is shadow blocking at the line of scrimmage, not knowing if it is a pass play or a run play. Let's hope the changes in scheme included some check down audibles at the line of scrimmage that allow the offensive line to get a push on run downs.
I believe last season too often we may have run the ball too often with our offensive line not knowing it was a run play.
Bring back the power formation in the red zone, to include liggins as the TE. Two wide outs, and two big backs in the backfield. One wide out being Laquon and the other Engram. The two best blockers on the outside.
And then throw out of that formation 50 percent of the time, so teams don't load up the box. If they do pass, it's a back shoulder to Laquon or a fade to Engram or a wheel route to Wilkins, Judd or Walton. And then every once in a while release Liggins down the middle of the field. Lots of opportunities, maybe this year Derrick Jones is the fade guy. He continues to run past defenders with ease.
