First of all, I do not think Alford gets a waiver. He also had multiple knee and ankle injuries at Southern Miss. Furthermore, when is the last time he played DB?

If the guy is the athlete everyone says he is, he should be able to adjust to the defensive side of the ball.

He played a little safety 2 years ago in crucial situations for Petal.

I think he'll do fine. If nothing else, he will add depth to the secondary.

Speaking of practice....

WIO, are you okay after taking this hit the other day?

THIS

Had a friend who was at practice last week and said Alford trucked Nick Parker.

He's the biggest surprise of camp, IMO.

I expected nothing out of him, but apparently he loves defense and is a great athlete that doesn't shy away from contact. He's a beast in the weight room, too.

Yeah PJ talked very well of him on RYH. He said he came to PJ and told him he wanted to play defense and PJ talked about how surprised with how incredibly strong and physical he is

I know that this isn't really related to spring practice and I'm sure it's already been discussed somewhere on here. That being said, where do you think Connor fits in the rotation of safeties?

I expect him to be a special team contributor this year due to his size/speed ratio. Our ST coverage units were bad last year bc we didn't have enough depth and raw athletic ability.

Might take him a year in the system to supplant the incoming safeties.

Everyone in the 2 deep on defense I expect to play close to the same amount of snaps to stay rested. I think Connor may not start the Vandy game at Husky but TC and Hilton will do well there.

Dehendret got moved back to corner which means Connor will fight Hilton for the Husky spot. It won't matter if he beats him or not since Wommack wants our entire two deep on defense to play almost as much as the starters depending on the situation
