That's quite harsh.

You can still pay to park somewhere on campus?

That is what I thought I had heard, like that lot by the law school. Could be wrong though have not really kept up with it.

I don't think so. The way I understand it, the only people who can park on campus are students living on campus and people who have already paid for a parking pass.

Nope. If they allow that there are going to be some pissed off people. A lot of people didn't get parking passes because they sold out so quick.

So entering the Grove via Sorority Row is no longer an option?

That's the way I always enter from Jxn Ave, go up take a left, drop my shite off at my tent by Yirby, then head out.

Before, it has always been that you couldn't enter the grove from Univ/Old Taylor (I.E. going over Hilgard's Cut.) It was all one way traffic and you had to be coming from the other direction.

Jesus, I am glad I can walk to the Grove from my house.

But my early am dropoff routine might be a little more difficult.

I'll just park at the mall movie theater and take the shuttle to the Grove with my cooler... When I'm ready to leave I'll take a shuttle back to the mall with my cooler in tow... Don't really see a problem.

It's a problem when you have tables, chairs, and 3 tents to tear down, with no car on campus to load up in, and everyone too drunk to drive.

Not unless you have a pass. It'll be interesting to see how enforced these rules actually are.

In the future I don't think it will be bad but this year is going to be hell

Yes. But if you park without a pass ANYWHERE your arse is toast.

There's going to be security at every parking lot across campus so don't think you can go down that hill behind Kinard and park there.

Yeah it blows.

So glad this didn't happen while I was there. I always parked the night before at the music building with an ice chest full of beer and just carried my food from my condo. Gone are those days.

UMM, how big is that? Is that at least the size of a cube?

I'm sorry but these new parking policies are just plain stupid. If it wasn't broke, why fix it? I have several friends that are season ticket holders that donate to the school that are beyond pissed to say the least.

By their criteria it was broke. They don't want traffic on campus. They don't care if it puts people at an inconvenience.

There's always traffic on campus. Always will be. Like today I searched for over a hour for a parking place to go to class. These people in control of the parking have their heads up their asses.

I think they are trying to cut down the traffic for legal purposes. I can't remember the exact numbers but the original email with the new parking details said last year there was like 6000 parking spots but on gameday there were like 15000 cars on campus. Again, not sure what the actual numbers were but you get the gist.

Legal?

How so.

I agree... If this does fail miserably then one good thing that could come out of it is a multi-level, on campus parking garage... Hell, they were talking about doing that when I was a freshman... Instead, all they did was build that big lot off of Old Taylor and highway 6.
