I would totally want Jim Leavitt.
The man has experience and has proven he can coach and scheme defenses fantastically.
As for his scandal. I think after his time at the 49rs and Colorado, it is safe to hire him.
Also, what exactly did he do, nothing is very clear.

Support. Guy is a hell of a coach and his scheme/status/connections should bring in some great recruits. We need to hire a coach that's at risk of using us as a stepping stone because he's that good, and not hire people that will stay here until they're in the grave or we fire them because literally no one else wants them. Freeze has focused and talked about having coaches who will be here for the long haul, and that frankly just hasn't worked out.

Agreed.
If your talent isn't being poached, there isn't any talent.

If your coaches are somewhere "for the long haul" then that's at least in part not good by itself. Like someone else said, that just likely means they aren't wanted by anyone else. It's a fact, that in most jobs when people don't have aspirations of moving up which in itself drives most people to do their very best, they get lazy, complacent, and the work product shows - whether you're an accountant or a defensive coordinator.

LSU to hire Herman. Means any chance with Aranda would definitely be off the board because they are close. His offense with that defense...scary.

Don't think Herman is a done deal. They are saying closing in, could have deal by Saturday. Bet Texas swoops in now. They won't continue jerking around Charlie now that Herman has put them on the spot.
Great hire for LSU if they did get him though. Never thought the next HC would let go of Aranda anyway. Leavitt or Allen are our guy

Take that back. Now sounding like Texas is stupid enough to keep Charlie over getting Herman. Lsu is going to get scary with Herman. If Texas was smart, lsu would be screwed. Jimbo turned them down already

WTF is Texas doing? How could they let Herman go to LSU?

Reading through 247, Texas and ESPN sources are the ones saying this is happening. LSU sources are quiet. Sort of makes me still think Herman's agent is leaking this to pressure Texas. Mostly let them know, if you are going to make a move, now is the time.
Jimbo already turned down LSU so they are getting real desperate. Unless Texas blows out TCU tomorrow and Charlie retains his job like Les did last year, I'm still calling Herman to UT. Just think Herman is getting tired of playing this game of waiting to see what UT does with Charlie. Don't see how they keep him after going 16-20 the past 3 years and 5-6 this year, plus losing to Kansas. Supposedly they are considering it still

No way they could be that dumb to keep Strong. No possible way to recruit to that team with that uncertainty.
A&M needs to fire Sumlin. They choke every season.

Chavis will probably be on the market after tonight lol

Definitely don't want. A&M defense wet tissue soft.

Agreed. Think he is the same as Wommack, game has passed him by

If we had a real defense, 9-3 would have got us back in the Sugar. As bad as we are, it certainly wouldn't have been hard looking back. Daily reminder of all the more reason to Fire Wommack

Looking back on what ifs, a good defense this season would likely have been enough for us to have held on against Florida State, Auburn, Arkansas and probably have beaten Vandy. And if all that's the case, Bama was certainly in our grasp at the time. Oh well, sigh.

Heard Charlie Strong is out no later than Saturday night after today's mess. They'll hire Herman. Fisher has turned down LSU also. Big O will get the LSU job because they struck out on the other two.
Still don't think Aranda will be on the market, but at least LSU will suck once Miles' recruits are dried up. Beat the pups and hire Leavitt as D coordinator and it will be a fantastic weekend
