Early predict the 2014 season thread
Thursday, August 28 - v. Boise State W
Saturday, September 6 - at Vanderbilt W
Saturday, September 13 - v. Louisiana-Lafayette W
Saturday, September 27 - v. Memphis W
Saturday, October 4 - v. Alabama L
Saturday, October 11 - at Texas A&M Toss Up (Edge A&M - Home Field)
Saturday, October 18 - v. Tennessee W (Gonna be a great game)
Saturday, October 25 - at LSU L (Hard to win in BR)
Saturday, November 1 - v. Auburn W (surprise)
Saturday, November 8 - v. Presbyterian W
Saturday, November 22 - at Arkansas W
Saturday, November 29 - v. Mississippi State Toss Up (edge OM)

Anywhere between 8-10 wins. Most likely 9.

I feel as if we'll pick off Alabama, Auburn, or LSU. However, we'll have a WAOM game against Texas A&M, Tennessee, or Arkansas.

The Egg Bowl, as you're well aware, is completely unpredictable.

Worst/ 7-5
Best/ 11-1
Prediction/ 9-3

Boise State: W
Vandy: W
ULL: W
Memphis: W
Alabama: L
aTm: W
Tennessee: W (will be a good game)
LSU: L
Auburn: L
Presbyterian: W
Arkansas: W
State: W

*Toss-ups are underlined

Here is my reasoning:

OUR TEAM
Offensively we should see improvement in terms of consistency. We will be one of the few teams with not only a returning starter at QB, one with two seasons under his belt as well as a complete offseason AND spring. (Theoretically) Bo should improve. Our backfield should improve with the addition of bigger backs (Wilkins, Judd, Buford) which gives our offense another scheme in which we can utilize. Our WR Corps should also improve. Even though we lost Donte and Ja-mes (and Neat) we have the deepest WR corps that I can remember ever having.

The key is in our OL (as if this is a surprise). Our depth still isnt where it needs to be HOWEVER I think our starting 5 will be better than last years starting 5.

EXPLANATION OF TOSS-UPS
aTm - Playing on Kyle Field will be the biggest challenge. I give us the edge because they are losing their insane WR, OT, and QB. I think we all can remotely agree that if it were not for JFF we would have won both games in Oxford these past two years. If we can protect against Myles Garrett and get pressure on Allen, I think we win.

LSU - Simply payback for winning this past season. It will be a good game (like it always is) but combine playing in BR, coming off a loss, and Leonard Fournette, and I think we lose this one.

Auburn - The only reason I have this as a toss-up is because we are playing in Oxford. They return a lot of starters and this game is right after LSU.

State - We should win, period. Game is in Oxford, coming off of an embarrassing loss, and Mullen is a douche. The only reason I have this as a toss-up is because it's the Egg Bowl... it's a toss-up regardless of either team's records.

There would be SOOO much blood. Fighting over the ninth win. Egg Bowl glory. Recruiting momentum going into the Offseason with one of the best senior classes in Mississippi.

What a war that would be

What will our offensive line be like though?

If we can piece that together I think our team can be really really really good.

IMO our starting 5 would be (from LT to RT)

Tunsil, Taylor, Bell/Still/Conyers, A. Morris, Golson/Cooper

Really the questions are:
1) Who can play center. At center its just as important to be mentally capable as well as physically capable.
2) Who is better between Golson and Fahn
3) Will A. Morris be in shape.

Fun factoid though for you gents. Daronte Bouldin is the strongest person on the team

Tunsil Morris Gholson Taylor Cooper? I hope Taylor and Cooper can come in ready to step in. But we desperately need a right tackle to step up and be ready to hold his own in the sec. I think Gholson at center would greatly improve our interior Oline.

Havent thought of Golson at center. That may be a viable option. I was very impressed with him when he came in some this past season

I just saw your list. I think that's a better potential starting group for depth purposes. If Gholson was playing center then who would back up the tackle spots?

The coaches said Golson would get a look at center this spring

This and is Morris going to be in shape? We just have to much depth at center to waist Gholson there.

Bell/Still/Conyers is that not allot of depth? I would rather have him at tackle.

I put that there because no one knows who center would be because of our lack of depth there... Other players converted to center...

Center is a hard arse position to play and not just anyone can play it

Only Still has ever played center though. I wouldn't call that depth.
