Good grief people. Can we not be happy that we are bowling in the endzone and still be a little disappointed that they took the cheap way out to do it?
Dores and I are not saying that it won't be a vast improvement over what we have had in that endzone before. But I don't see why we are getting attacked because we think the end product is going to look cheap. The only reason why we are bowling in that endzone is because they had to throw in a "bowl the north endzone" project in to help people donate to the Forward Together Rebels campaign. The arena was not getting the donations alone. The north endzone was an afterthought plain and simple. Back off if we complain. I can be happy and disappointed at the same time.
As for Bjork. I like him. He's the best AD in the SEC, however, he has his faults and is not above a little criticism from time to time. Heck, people loved Boone for a long time before they got upset with him. I used to criticize him and people would try to take my head off.

Quit bitching about the north end zone. This is temporary for sure, but does give us a bowled stadium. Next up is the press box which should mirror the east side luxury boxes.
When we are making regular trips to ATL, we can worry about that grand entrance that matches the south end zone.
During the winter the SEZ is visible from the highway and it is impressive. I'm sure the NEZ will get the same look some time in the future.
Right now we have a new arena and a bowled in stadium. Plus the upgrades to whiskey alley will make the walk of champions a little more aesthetically pleasing until the NEZ is given it's final face lift.
I started attending the games in 1980, so stop bitching.

The NEZ will look good for now. It would be dumb to overspend on a really nice facade if we are going to cover it up in the future. Putting up a bunch of brick up would take up unnecessary space. I get the disappointment, though.

Anyone notice how state can no longer add on to DWS? Unless they tear down that building or take the top off of their new endzone.

If you look at that picture and look at the rendering, you will see it is the same height. It stops a few rows above that walkway or whatever that is on the west side. Nothing has changed or mislead fans. It's accurate with the rendering. Ready to see it finished now. Finishing this first phase gives us something else to look forward to, which won't be too long from happening I think.

Now that I look at it, it looks the same in some renderings. I want to make clear that I'm not disappointed at all, but to say the following renderings aren't just a little bit misleading is silly.
What they showed us:
What is being built:
It won't be as different as it appears right now but they definitely played us with the angles.

I don't see how they played us. It looks just like the rendering to me. I knew by looking at the rendering the first time that it wouldn't be the exact height as the east and west side.

We've just started the steel frame work and we're already saying the final rendition looks misleading

It's half way up that top section right now with just the steel. It'll be a little over half (like the rendering) when they've completed it.

Yup we're still yet to add the concrete and then the back wall which will put it higher up than it is now.

Yeah it looks nothing like what we are getting.
I don't think anyone is pissed at what we are doing. But to say its perfect would be a huge stretch.

It is... if you'd show the full image...

It's not the same image. I am not complaining in any way, I actually think it will look cool in a Sanford Stadium way. My point was that they did a good job at downplaying the difference in height using the camera angle. Our stadium is going to look much much better with a complete bowl, even though it isn't a massive renovation.
This is what I'm talking about, look where the East and North corners meet:
I guarantee if you put a camera in the exact same spot when it is finished, it will look differently.

You aren't showing the full picture:
eta: Adding these additional pics from the press conference video when this was all revealed. I don't see anything different from what they've done so far:

Exactly. The video being stopped at 43 seconds is just too zoomed in. But it at 46 shows it wide enough.
I don't think the school has played any sort of angles or anything.

I think the renderings were just a conspiracy

I wasn't suggesting they were doing anything different, just that they were trying to make it look as good as possible because they knew people were going to bitch. Maybe I'm the one bitching....Anyway, I heard from one of my friends in the athletic department that Bjork was gunning to be the Supreme Leader of athletics.
