Surprised not to see anything on this board honoring the recent passing of a Rebel legend. RIP Dog - you will be missed.

I agree. He was a good guy and no one, not even any of our current coaches, had more love for Ole Miss than Billy Brewer.

Without question, an Ole Miss legend.

Good guy. While his downfall was ugly, he’s largely responsible for people giving even half a shite about modern Ole Miss football. Should have more recognition on campus despite the way things ended

Unfortunately he also fell to the powers that be in the SEC. No one in the SEC wants to see Ole Miss have any success.
But his success in a very difficult time, leads me to believe Luke can have even more success than Brewer.
He had players that played with passion and guts. They were short on talent but long on heart. I enjoyed my years with Coach Brewer and hated to see it end badly for him.
The 80's was tough. Schools in the sec were hitting hard on the myth that Ole Miss was a racist. Eventhough their own school wasn't any better at the time.
I credit Coach Brewer's handling of the Chucky Mullins situation with showing recruits and their families that Ole Miss was family no matter your skin color.
At a time when players weren't normally insured for injuries such as Chucky's the Ole Miss family raised the money to support one of their own.
Funny thing, at the University of Georgia about 10-12 years ago they had a similar issue with a student athlete and the person in charge of filing the insurance for injuries, failed to turn in the paperwork. This left the player and their family left to sue the school in order to get the needed finances for his treatment and recovery.
So, Ole Miss is family and once a Rebel, always a Rebel.
So as long as there is a Rebel leading the Ole Miss football program I will support him the best I can.
We've had enough outsiders come in and play the jumping post at Ole Miss or just flat out leave the program in shambles. Orgeron, Nutt, Tubberville and Freeze all left the program with issues. Why not support a Rebel?
