You'd have to be a complete idiot to blame Kennedy for that game. He called the perfect play to get either his best player(Moody) a shot, with a option to kick it out to his 2nd best player and senior(Summers). Summers was wide open, drilled the 3 and got fouled. From a coaching standpoint what else can you ask for.

Now it doesn't take coaching to know that you can't foul with 1 second left on the clock in that situation. A senior in White very well much knows that. It was just a horrible mistake by White. You learn not to foul in 7th grade basketball. There was no way that kid was going to make that shot. Horrible foul.

I hope the team gets in, and makes a run where they win 3 or 4 in a row and you idiots calling for his head look like idiots once again.

I don't think we are gonna make it in. We might but I would be really surprised. Jerry Palm had us out all week. Lenardi says we are still in but I have a hard time buying that with how we've finished. 7-out in 3 weeks is absurd. All those home losses

Eta: and I definitely don't think we deserve to be in. We have 1 good win and a couple RPI boosters.

I don't think we deserve to get in either. Team just didn't play well down the stretch. We were talking 6th seed a couple weeks ago.

Sucks because we haven't had one game all year where Jarvis, Moody, and White all played at a high level.

To be honest with you, Kennedy is not a great X's and O's coach. His offense often goes stagnant, lacks ball movement, and involves too many isolation plays. I had the chance to sit in on a few of his practices, so I'm being as objective as possible. Kennedy has overachieved for OUR program, but has underachieved in the past with better talent. I don't know if we can adequately replace Kennedy at this point, but he is not irreplaceable.

Jerry Palm told Neal that other SEC coaches have told him our team is always really easy to prepare for because we don't run much. We just don't have the necessary athletes. That's why I have been impressed with AK this year bc on paper this team probably should of finished below .500 in the league. This was not that 2013 team that had so much talent (ole miss relative).

UCLA - Arizona will be a big game for you guys. The Murray State situation is interesting as well.

That was impressive, but what's hurts Kennedy is that his recruiting has fallen off the map. His best class had 3 Top 100 guys in Terrico, Murphy, and Terrance. After that, his other Top 100 guys ended up being busts in Dundrecous and Demarco. Since then, I believe his highest rated recruit was Anthony Perez. But, I also believe that with newer facilities, our recruiting will still be hindered with AK because he can be difficult to deal with. His coaching style and player interaction is not for everyone. He may have cooled since I last witnessed him though.

I think David has hit the nail on the head.

quote:

Just an observation with the Rebels' resume' under the microscope for the NCAAs...They went 1-6 versus the top four seeds in the SEC Tourney, which will not bode well with the selection committee. Losing 4 of the last 5 is not trending in the right direction. I know there are some projections that they are in no matter what, but I think a lot of things have to bounce their way between now and Sunday to hear their name called. As far as Andy Kennedy goes, there is almost a decade-long sampling of his leadership of the program, so there shouldn't be much guess work in evaluating him for those who wish to do so. He has no doubt raised the bar in terms of consistency of the program and should be given due credit. On the other hand, there certainly appears to be a ceiling hit that, save for two seasons ago, has not been broken through. Bjork has said in the past success with all programs will be determined by postseason play. The gray area is that AK is doing a good job but probably not great. For sure, there will be no moves made anytime soon and, with moving into a new arena next season, the pressure to punch through that ceiling will intensify.

I agree we should give him a year or two in the new arena. See if he can start pulling some in state talent with the new arena. If we are still a constant bubble team that blows it at the end, can him. I like AK. I was on the Keep AK train for a while. This season has changed that a little. I know we really overachieved with the win over Arky, Oregon, Cincy, and almost beating UK. It's not all AK's fault. Jarvis was trash the last half of the season. Moody struggled last night but was a constant beacon of hope. Snoop struggled along with Jarvis. Perez was hot and cold. Siaz was hot and cold. Terence Smith over achieved. Rhett was inconsistent. That's the answer. We are a sub .500 team that overachieved. AK made a great call late in the game and it should have won us the game. Snoop made a mistake. We shouldn't have been in that situation anyway. It sucks. I'm mad. I melted last night but I'm back to normal.

Now what pisses me off the most from our OWN FANS! Is that fact that I hear "he's the best we can do." Or "we will never be any better." Why? The SEC is improving. We are improving our facilities. We have a great AD who made a great WBB hire. Would he go hire Shaka Smart? No. But it wouldn't be Rick Ray either. We are a constant top 6 SEC team with AK. Let's not piss it away just yet.

Edit: Goddamn 669 for AC.

if you really think we've got a shot to sign him. I would like to see us at least offer his dad/stepdad a position on the staff

I don't expect him to stay in state at all. His stepdad is all about building the Malik brand. He'll go to wherever he can do that the best. UK or LSU probably.

But I wouldn't mind hiring his stepdad either.

Basketball recruiting is so openly dirty now, I wouldn't mind trying that.

It's worth going on probation, getting multiple sanctions, etc to try and land him. Throw every trick in the book his way

I mean look at Syracuse. They got caught committing violations and got a slap on the hand.
