Barring injuries, I can see it. Obviously will depend on team needs, but Tunsil is already the top LT, Treadwell will be the top WR of that class, and no doubt Nkemdiche will be a Top 10.

Rob, Chris Jones, and Adams for Aub will all be competing for top DT. That position usually goes top 10. LT could possibly be our next #1 pick at tackle. If he progresses at the current rate he will be.

I don't see Rob playing DT in the pros...

He'd be a great 3-4 end.

ETA: Richard Seymore?

The SEC West will have at least five defensive linemen drafted in the first round in 2016. There are some monsters coming up right now.

I'm not sure (based off of last season alone) that RN would even be the 3rd DL taken out of the SECw if I was picking right now.

But you're not. Just for shits and giggles, who would be the other(besides CJones) DLman that you picked before Nkemdiche?

Nkemdiche took half a season to get comfortable. The dude was a freak in the second half.

Nkemdiche Last 5 Weeks of Season(13 games)
-19 of his 34 tackles
-4 of his 8 TFL(21 of his 30 TFL yards)
-2 of his 2 Sacks(15 of his 15 Sack yards)

Jones Last 5 Weeks of Season(13 games)
-13 of his 32 tackles
-3 of his 7 TFL(17 of his 28 TFL yards)
-2 of his 3 Sacks(16 of his 26 Sack yards)

Lawson Last 5 Weeks of Season(13 games)
-4 of his 20 tackles
-2 of his 7.5 TFL(11 of his 24 TFL yards)
-2 of his 4 Sacks(11 of his 18 Sack yards)

Now, obviously, there are variables and shite unseen, but Nkemdiche can easily make a case to be the best. Maybe our defense was a bigger adjustment for him than Jones and Lawson.

You can't just look at stats and say that will correlate to draft position.

Lawson won't grade out that highly. He's pretty small for an NFL DE. Bob Nkemdiche and Chris Jones are prototype 3-4 DE's.

He's bigger than Dee Ford who just went in the first round.

Lawson will be a first round pick. So will Jones and RNk.

They were fricking freshmen. Even the best take a minute to acclimate. RNk was playing double and triple teamed all year because no one was there to take the pressure off him. He'll get better.

It will be a battle in 2016 to see who goes first of those 3 and Monty Adams.

Which is why Ford is probably playing OLB for KC.

I'm not saying Lawson won't go in the first round. It's just probably not going to be as a true lineman.

Even so, this article here LINK from 2011 talks about how NFL defensive ends are trending to be lighter and faster.

quote:

From 2001 to 2005, there were more defensive ends who weighed 271 pounds or more than there were who weighed 270 pounds or less. In 2006, the ratio of lighter to heavier defensive ends became almost equal, and the trend continued until those weighing more than 270 pounds have become a rarity.

quote:

The trend that's emerging is that the all-out sprint after the quarterback on every down necessitates a slimmer build than in years past. ESPN NFL analyst Herm Edwards explains, "you don't have to be a big guy anymore. If [defensive ends] can't play the run, teams can live with that. Just go and hit the quarterback."

Eta: Lawson is currently 6'2 262lbs.
